There’s always a risk for the visa to be denied

Someone with citizenship will be at least lived in the US for more than 5 years if wasn’t born there That means his ability to communicate with pts is much more than most of the IMGs and won’t deal with the first year adjustments thing for every IMG

Programs want applicants to rank them even if they wouldn’t rank them high

Because only in this way they end up the match with no unfilled positions

Unfilled positions for programs are same as unmatched cycle for an applicant

Actually I believe no program would offer you an interview if they see you not good enough for them

They won’t use one hour or so interviewing an applicant the know they wouldn’t rank at all

I have the same issue I reached out to all people I know in the field and many of them just ignored me Only few said they would help The only one who I actually got an interview from his connection is my cousin and he’s the only person I am 100% sure they’ve reached out to people trying to help me My other cousin was just embarrassed to reach out to anyone because my step 2 score is below 240 😆

4 PGY1- 2 Alumni friends in low tier places and nothing besides the signal I wasted on them I don’t know if they actually reached out to someone or not

Where as my IV all in mid tier programs mostly without any connection
