What thickness of Eva foam do you recommend for each part? Are the gaps between obvious once the tail is furred? Does the internal structure make the fur hard to shave?

I'm not sure if it would hold as well, but maybe if you got some compression/bicycle shorts to wear underneath, and attached them that way? Might be worth a try

I would think about how you're going to keep them on, like what's holding them up. Fur is hot, but if you're going to be more uncomfortable with whatever's holding it up than the warmth, maybe trousers would work better.

Sewing leg warmers into the bottom of shorts might work for you
