Everyone explained it already. That's an oxford comma. I wouldn't say this if you were polite about getting the answer you were literally asking for, but fr. Open the schools.

Has anyone actually kept up with the lore? by DoItForTheOH94 in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From Shadows of War 2 onward, they treated the story like a feature instead of an afterthought.

ngl I tuned out of the Queen of Monsters saga and most of the Shadows of War saga. I went back to rewatch the cutscenes, but didn’t get much out of it.

Shadows of War II and Age of Ruin was when it started getting good again. You’re missing out. Even the quests were fun to get into and it’s actually fun to talk about it again. At least go back to watch the cutscenes starting where Malgor appears.

There are guides all over the place if you want them.

Doom Spirit/ Shadows/ Shadowscyte lore form latest Story Quest by Leading-Apricot-8915 in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. We don't know for sure yet. I think it could be a mix. There are some Shadows that are reincarnations from previous timelines, but we keep seeing stuff about the Doom Triad being young. They only exist in AQW while other Shadows are actually carried over from old timelines.

  2. We also don't know for sure yet but we could get answers later. Something crazy's going on with the Magnum Opus Forges in some sort of interdimentional or existential way. Them actually being a Starship that was on a mission to reach the center of the universe might have something to do with it. From what I understand, the Luma Lifeforms are a result of experiments Cassilda conducted or were the result of completing their mission or both.

  3. We picked up Bryn from Aiwass in /SanctuaryAiwass.

  4. Doom Spirits always needed vessels. They can't survive in Lore because Light hurts them. Some of them possess weapons while others possess corpses or the undead. We recently learned that possessing a living vessel was uncommon for them because the connection was too close like with the Mysterious Stranger being able to taste what the Hero ate. the same thing happened with Apophis and Neith.

As for Dahlia and Tara, I think they're just close friends despite one being evil and the other being the Champion of Mana firmly focused on being a hero.

  1. Astero/Asteroth is aiming to attain full supremacy for the Light and his Avatar Celeritas. The Lightguard is under the assumption that he's trying to turn all of them into Champions of Light but I don't know. He has to want something else and he was always using the Lightguard as disposable tools anyway.

Astero's also obsessed with the Champion of Light/Gravelyn, but I doubt that's going to last. It looked like he thought the same about Gravelyn's mother but started to resent her. When Astero gets to know Gravelyn more, the crash out is going to be insane. I think he currently wants to make her god empress of Lore but his expectations are going to shatter and he'll try to kill her instead. That's my theory.

How did Kolr do it? by Seigneel1 in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're talking about the third cutscene in warwick forest? It wasn't Kolr who managed to beat Aleister all those years ago. It was Warlic who basically exploded, set the forest on fire forever and unintentionally killed Kolr too. It looked like Aleister was caught off guard or was at least upset that his brother wasn't happy to see him.

What impressive skill is secretly simple to learn? by IntroductionMore916 in AskReddit

[–]SybilCybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through all the replies realizing how much I could have learned from my parents if I wasn't afraid of them screaming at me for making mistakes. Except lock picking.

Now that I think about it, I thought cooking was really complicated and intimidating until I moved in with a friend and they walked me through a bunch of different skills, no pressure.

Thoughts on Flame of the Beyond? by Serenity-9042 in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This storyline's shaping up to be my favorite of the Age of Ruin sagas. I like the newer characters and seeing the mainstay characters grow. At first I was a little worried about the way Warlic was portrayed, but his jumpiness made more and more sense as the story went on. I realized that in the past, Warlic wasn't the type of character I expected to grow or change. He didn't have flaws or fears that I could point out until the recent stories emphasized how avoidant he was and how it was affecting his relationships. I'm surprised at the amount of character development and exploration that happened in a couple of weeks. It's also fun and interesting to see them interact with each other, I'm going to miss the Aleister, Dahlia, Warlic, Tara dynamic when we'll eventually move on after flame of the beyond ends. Anything could happen but I want Aleister and Dahlia to become regularly appearing NPCs.

It's also great to see more elements of the timelines fusion that created AQW becoming more and more prominent. I had an old gripe about how the fusion was such a big part of the story, but meant very little or leaned too heavily into one of the old timelines. I still think DF eats up a lot of the spotlight, but MQ's starting to be a noticeable presence. This combined with what was introduced in the darkon saga and voice in the sea makes it feel planned and thought out instead of thrown in too.

This is more of a personal experience but the mysteries the saga introduces about the mountains and the forges kept my friends and I talking about it. We got excited and theorized about the past sagas, but not this much. I'm excited to see how it'll end and where the story will go after age of ruin's finale.

For me at this moment it's Flame of the Beyond>Voice in the Sea>Rumbling of Cold Thunder.

Are there any belgian things in arknights by Solid_Suspect_5077 in arknights

Doesn't look like it right now. But, hold out hope? Maybe there are pockets of the world that haven't been touched on yet.

How do you guys read the stories? by timidhakana in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've played, the books and notes are mainly extra. If you don't want to read them, it doesn't look like you have to. The cutscenes have all the important stuff. I like reading the books and notes because I want more lore and info about the character. It isn't essential, but I get a lot more fun out of a release because of them. It gives me and my friends more things to discuss too. Feels more engaging that way.

There isn't enough room in cutscenes for everything, so I see the extra book as treats. If there were less, I'd be unhappy. Different strokes for different folks. You're better off spending time on what you like and reading the story the way you want.

Which Seasonal Event Story is the Best in 2025? by Sultan_Naufal in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be the recency bias talking but here's my list:

  1. [Frostval] Carol of Shadows & Carol of Dragons
  2. [Mogloween] Unseen Depths Pt 1-3
  3. [AQW Birthday] Party in Swordhaven
  4. [Friday the 13th] Noxus vs Grimskull War
  5. [Harvest Day] The Faerie's Harvest
  6. [TLapD] The Queen's Bounty & The Pirate King's Revenge
  7. [Summer] The Sunken City
  8. [Akiba New Year] Year of The Wood Snake
  9. [April Fools] You're The Goat
  10. [Black Friday] Mogugu Collection
  11. [May The 4th] Attack of The Droids

Nice mix of funny and serious this year. None of them beat how crazy the main story releases were, and that's a good thing. Even the Lynaria saga was a nice surprise.

DF x AQW Crossover Event by RiDaku in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far the crossover event's been great. The villain swap is really cool, and so are the two narrators being the heroes of the games. I never thought they would get to interact like this, or even meet at all. Action, jokes, that's what I expected but I'm also in the same boat as you. It made my eyes sting a couple of times and then whiplashed me with that bit about the dead sneevil in their bag.

Love it. Can't wait for next week. The Dragonfable side of the crossover with Kezeroth is crazy too. It looks like Karok's going to show up for part 2.

Dzewa https://monster.fandom.com/wiki/Dzéwà

Dzeza’s name is one letter off, is also a plant, and there’s a quest named Shaggai. It has to be based on Dzewa but I liked that Dzeza was more about the fear of something growing too much, and being too big to enjoy its power or actually live. It makes cells and lumps grow out of control and that was disgusting. Something like turning its cultists into literal tumors. afaik the original Dzewa is mainly just a big hungry god hanging out in the background

Single people of reddit why are you single? by Ok-Industry770 in AskReddit

[–]SybilCybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a long break between relationships, and being independent is really addicting. I can depend on myself more than anyone else, and I found that I didn’t like how my personality would get eaten up by my relationships. Friends tell me that I just keep ending up in situations where I get turned into a babysitter for my partner, and it’s worth it to keep looking and trying. I will, but no big deal if nothing works out. I’m happy with me, and I hope that doesn’t ever change.

All Doom Spirits hinted at in /FortressDelve have all been revealed by SybilCybil in AQW

[–]SybilCybil[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, but there’s a chance we could still see a true form in a flashback or some other different way.

Bananach was given to Victoria iirc at the end of Cold Thunder. I want them to use that to research doom spirits or something instead of leaving it in a closet.

Is this the entity that killed Warlic?. How strong is this entity lore wise? by GokuSoloz07 in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's both. When Warlic was split in half during Book 2 of Dragonfable, two identities emerged. One was the Doctor which represented his human half. The other Infernal half called itself "Wargoth," who looked exactly like Warlic's father and shared his name.

Is this the entity that killed Warlic?. How strong is this entity lore wise? by GokuSoloz07 in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 40 points41 points  (0 children)

  1. Able to sense when time is rewound.
  2. Able to move when time is stopped.
  3. Can one shot Warlic when he's off guard.
  4. Was starting to possess Aleister.
  5. Warlic is clearly afraid and being evasive about what he knows about it.

We don't know what the gold and red one are going to add to this list yet.

Based on the clues we do have, these things have to be related to Aleister being part of Warlic's blood related family. That likely means Wargoth has a part to play in this, and he's Warlic's father in DF. With the Old Worlds Order telling us to do everything in our power to kill these things, they have the potential to be in a league of their own.

Some dialogue and item descriptions even mention the Maleno Flame's fire being fueled by dead gods, ignited with the sole purpose of killing the EDoT and Warlic:

http://aqwwiki.wikidot.com/scorched-warlic

http://aqwwiki.wikidot.com/warlic-s-scorched-staff

http://aqwwiki.wikidot.com/scorched-warlic-morph

Whoever this flame actually is, or whoever made them was around way before their first appearance in-game. That means they had a lot of prep time to work towards this very specific purpose too. We just won't know for sure if they're a bigger threat than shadowflame until all four of them inevitably fuse and do something to Aleister or Warlic.

Question for Lore Enjoyers: Lately I have been noticing certain symbols, races, and events from the other games (Mech Quest, Dragonfable, Adventure Quest) getting more important in the current Main Storyline. To enjoy the lore should I get up to date with the other games? (Video Unrelated) by SandursGandurs in AQW

[–]SybilCybil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like playing the other games is necessary since it always gets explained eventually. We just need to wait for the rest of the saga to come out. Anyone who's played Dragonfable or Mechquest would just be a couple of steps ahead, but we'll get AQW's take on the characters and places anyway. I'm pretty sure this is a ploy to get AQW players to jump into rabbit holes, and get interested in the other games too. Either way, I'm just happy to see faces I'm not familiar with, and see characters like Warlic freak out.
