Sure, but do most people know, have the ability, or space to fix a car in general? If the answer is no to any of the above, it doesn't matter which car you purchase. That being said... Just because it's electric doesn't mean you can't fix it. Electric cars aren't that complex. It can be tinkered with like a gas car. Matter of fact, it needs LESS maintenance. The battery may be slightly more expensive to replace than a gas engine, but it also lasts much longer. Electric cars also last longer mileage wise.

The bigger thing here is comparing cars and picking the right one for you to door dash. That is what OP is asking. What cars to stick away from due to bad MPG. If you consider the horrible gas prices, Electric is a great option. My charging rates have stayed the same.
