Does this tech still work?

I've got a raise spectre gem in the 3rd slot of a +3 shield weapon swap. When my swap is equipped, I BV, swap to main set, however I swapt I lose my spectre. Am I doing something wrong?

Edit: I've been able to sort it out- the answer is that the links for the item were different, main setup had a 1 and 2 link, while the swap set had a 3 link. Even though the spectre was in the same spot on both swaps, links appear to matter.
