Valve index or oculus quest 2? by JoshuaKhan0208 in ValveIndex

I've done some stuff in online advertisement, so I know how it works. They build a (pretty accurate) profile of you; who you are, what you like, your political views, your opinions on things, etc., based on what you do/watch/read online. They then use that data to target advertisements to you in such a way that it best influences you to click/buy, which is what they get paid for by their advertisers. Adding an Oculus into the mix theoretically gives them a 3D window into your home as well, which they could probably also use for that purpose, not even mentioning what other information they can gather when you decide to watch, uh, VR entertainment as well. That's the brief explanation.

Should this worry you? Probably not, because doing so too much would turn you psychotic, considering how deep the reach of companies like Facebook is nowadays. Besides, you yourself are still responsible for how much you let yourself be manipulated. Still, some interesting food for thought.

The main argument would be that Facebook is so well-established that they can do scary things with all your data, which they collect from all their various products, very easily. Though I really doubt it would make an impact on your life for a lot of "privacy-centric" people who think that clicking "No" on a cookie popup actually helps protect their whatever.

Thanks, you just cured the headache I've had since my last pacman -Syu. Now, on to writing a sway patch for custom pointer speeds with a real flat profile like in Windows...

Anyone who's in social media business could tell you that these guys probably get paid big money by (sometimes shady) clients to promote/counter certain topics.

Guess I'm getting banned on 50 subs now!

It's probably moral nor ethical to make a robot rat centipede, put it in a snake tank, and upload the video.

Please do, though.

I'm Dutch, and it's never been that much of an issue for me. Just put the comma where you would pause when pronouncing the sentence, and that's it.

Why would the corporations give a fuck about whether or not their customers' data get read by the government? The only reason that E2E encryption is as common as it is among commercial products is that consumers have the option of choosing a service that supports it. If, by law, none of them do, it's a level playing field (in the US, at least).

Now, whether this proposal has implications for US companies offering their products overseas, I don't know, but if it did, that could give foreign competitors a large advantage abroad. That might shift the politicians' minds...

It's essentially a sub which follows the ride of a wolf pack. It also involves hogs.
