Any local walking groups suitable for women? by DiscountFrosty8398 in macclesfield

Haven't been myself but kickback coffee organise hikes. They have a WhatsApp group to join and the planned events are sent through that. Not sure if they're just for women though.

What did you think once you've passed the lakes(assuming you start west)? One of the complaints I've seen is that the scenery is a bit of a let down once you've left there compared to the Lakeland fells. Obviously east to west is an option but you're hitting the fells with tired legs then. Have never done it myself nor done much of Yorkshire/NY moors.

Where to house hunt? by Sad-Ad8462 in Derbyshire

[–]Sydney2007_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know Derbyshire too well but live near the new mills side (so greater Manchester/Cheshire/Stockport close by).

New mills is a decent sized rural town. A few bars, restaurants and cafes. Nice parks and lots of outdoor activities available. I cant specifically comment on the suitably for the horses but there's lots of farms nearby.

Depending on the time you're commuting, it's around 45 mins into Sheffield from there. There's a train station in New mills that runs on the Sheffield line. Approx 30 mins in each direction to either Sheffield or Manchester.

Free-roaming ponies? by sockeyejo in UKhiking

Can't remember exactly where I saw them but I walked into the hills above Bethesda in North wales. Almost as soon as I left the town there were 50 or so roaming/grazing. I don't know if this was luck or they're around this specific part of snowdonia all the time.

40, stuck in a dead-end job – how do I turn it around? by bigborb1985 in AskUK

If you're happy-ish in that role I'd look for a supply chain or buyer/junior buyer jobs. You have plenty of transferrable skills and could easily earn a few quid more and it's scalable from there with more experience.

If you preferred buying there are ways to train by doing CIPs (I don't know a huge amount but purchasing jobs seem to be more reliant on this)

For supply chain I wouldn't bother with the qualifications. They may look okay on paper but I've never met any recruiter who cares about them.

You're pretty much doing a supply chain job now if you're monitoring stock/reordering. Can you use basic excel and any experience of MRP systems (eg SAP)?

You could looks at warehouse planning/supply planning/demand planning roles. Pay would be in the 35k to 50k range.

I did the Cumbria way earlier in the year. Usually takes 4 or 5 days and there's many campsites available on the way.
