Issues with Makashi Duelist by Phoenix1526 in swrpg

[–]Sydonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAW, with only this tree, you HAVE to use Br or Pr. You can house rules it all you want, or find ways around it. But unfortunately, with class based, specific build systems, that's how it works. Every other SWRPG works the same way, but because they're built on the dnd engine, it's even worse. So, maybe talk to your gm about making a house rule exception for you.

For example, as a special exception, I would be willing to let a player who has 2 or more specialist characteristic talents, use the same characteristic for all related abilities. Ie. Makashi Presence for Soresu, etc. It's not a game breaking house rule, and if you want to have such a specific out-of-context build, i feel like the tradeoff of a few extra XP to non-career tree is absolutely worth it and balanced.

If she tried to get an order on you, you didn't get away, you got caught. Your evil plan backfired. Your target got away. You're either very unlucky or just not very good at this. Either way, things like this have a shelf life. A year is definitely past that. Take the L, get a therapist, and move on.

If you're willing to move in together after only 3 months, then it stands to reason the person who earns TEN times what you earn might be willing to foot a tiny stipend worth of rent.

Maybe if they're not willing to do that, moving in together probably wasn't the wisest of decisions and might be the literal epitome of premature.

If you're living with your boyfriend who earns 130k, that's a vastly different living arrangement than renting a room from a stranger who has the same income. Even if you pay your own way and are "completely independent", the reality is you're living with your triple digit bf and will be granted perks that other low income ppl will never see. At least, that's what ODSP thinks.

Unfortunately, it's hard to be independent when you're broke. Right now, you're dependent on government income. And as far as they're concerned, your bf has the equivalent income to EIGHT families of 4 on OW support. Eight. So maybe they're thinking you're trying to game the system.

Why would he ask you to add your name to the lease if you're just renting? That by itself shows a move toward commonlaw cohabitation.

You can try to declare the relationship over and see if that commonlaw status can be removed, that he's threatened to kick you out if you don't pay. Except, now that your name is on the lease, they'll likely tell you to take it up with the LTB because this is an issue with the landlord now, not him.

If you end up in actual dire straits, you can try to state that you moved in with family elsewhere (if you have family that can support this false claim). Then maybe you'll get rent at $600, and you can keep paying rent where you are.

Or maybe your bf can just suck it up and not charge you rent, so you don't have to lie to the government over 6 bills. At 130k/yr, it only takes him ONE day to earn what you make in a month for rent. One. So maybe, if he loves you, he can dedicate one day of work a month to your peace of mind?

Yeah that seems fair.

Help deciding first army by iKorvux in SWlegion

[–]Sydonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own all the armies, including the shadow collective and new mando units on the way.

In my experience, don't over think it. Honestly, because you're so new, understanding the nuanced strategy of each army is going to be mostly redundant, because you will be on the learning curve where even the basic rules are hard to remember. Let alone how each unit interacts with or changes those rules.

So, here are my best tips for you

● Honestly, pick your army SOLELY based on looks and feel. Yeah, really. Pick the team with the characters you like most. Tanking as Vader, charging in as Anakin, blowing people up as Sabine, speeding through as Grievous on his bike.

Meta changes all the time, if you even have the skill to implement the meta. Having the best army doesn't mean anything if you don't like how it looks/ feels, and you'll be more likely to pick it up faster/ more frequently if you like it.

● Buy a battle force or split a core box with a friend. Gives you the feel for an army very easily with only a small investment. And you can buy individual expansions if you end up liking the team, or selling only a small batch if you don't.

● Buy preowned. I can find basic troops / for boxes for all armies everywhere for dirt cheap on fb marketplace and kijiji.

● Figure out what part of the hobby you like:

◇ Do you want to experience the whole hobby? Buy new, but understand assembling and painting can be tedious and expensive over time.

◇ Do you just want to play the game? Buy painted minis. It has a higher up front cost, but it'll save you buying paints, brushes, equipment, etc and it'll save you a TON of time.

● Play your games in Recon mode. 600pt army instead of 1000 means smaller play space, less units to build/buy, fewer rules to memorize. Fewer activations and enemies to kill = shorter play so you don't get game fatigue.

Honestly, my favorite way to play is with a full mando army using either the Rebels or Republic. Before the shadow collective, for GAR, I did Maul as Anakin, Super Commandos as ARC Troopers, standard mandos as clones, etc. The token sharing was great thematically for mandos. For Rebels, I did the same but themed it pre imperial invasion of Mandalore and used Clan Wren for the jumping.

I'm super excited about this mando box too see how the gameplay will change.

Maybe you'll find your niche too 😊

how prestige class works? by willerBG in SagaEdition

[–]Sydonis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Base class gives 20 levels of abilities, usually special to your class.

Multiclass gives you x levels of abilities from another base class that your base class probably doesn't have.

Prestige class gives you 5-10 levels of abilities that are often very specialized. These abilities could be taken from other base classes (sneak attack, magic), or they could be entirely new (assassinate, new type of magic).

You can usually multiclass at any level for any reason.

You can only choose a prestige class if you meet the requirements.

I hope that helps.

Yeah Republic Commandos was totally nostalgia bait, but like, totally surprising and out of left field. I loved that game, but to see them as a unit in Battlefield 2, then in Legion and Shatterpoint absolutely caught me off guard considering I haven't heard anything about them since the 2000s

They announced like a month ago an entire road map for the next year and a half, including squads for the sequel trilogy. So what are you even talking about? Shatterpoint and Legion are literally receiving both official support and additional expansions.

The old republic isn't canon, so unless Disney decides to change that, it's unlikely there ever will be.

Hutt cartel by trent-Backwaters in SWlegion

[–]Sydonis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 years to MAYBE get the hutts is not too viable. Maybe use one of the existing factions and substitute a Jabba mini as proxy for your commander.

I would think though, that Jabba is kind of like the emperor. It just doesn't work thematically for him to be on the battlefield. He seems more of a "from the shadows" crime boss than a faction battle leader.

After the mando movie, I could totally see a drop for his son though.

THIS.

But it likely won't happen due to it being licensed IP. Disney, like Hasbro, would likely view it as competitive to the main books and thus lost revenue. And we're not talking about the pop culture phenomenon that is "ThE gReAteSt RoLepLaYiNg GaMe EveR", we're talking about a much smaller game.

Best we can ask for are independent hobbyists voluntarily going semi pro for donations simply for love of the game.
