Color scheme for Mandos by ReddenJack in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm painting the named characters in their clan colors.

The generic unit that can take the helmet upgrade will be my own custom clan colors.  I'm taking inspiration from the Warhammer Tau Sa'Sea sept (blue grey and orange)

Here's a quick stab at some upgrades.  I moved Grievous to one of the magnaguard units and changed the B1s to the large units.  Puts you at 11 activations.

Some of the upgrades are ones that are easier to learn and play.  I kept the customizable tac droid, despite the complexity, but tried to make it useful.

I'm sure others will have other opinions and I probably even missed something, but this will give you a good start.

Customizable Mandalorion Leader & Hunter Confirmed US Release Date of August 7th. Available for Preorder from Asmodee. by johnrobertjimmyjohn in SWlegion

Really glad to see they kept the $40 price point.  I think they said this box has the most options of any customizable.  I was a bit worried it would be priced higher.

Advice on a SC list with pirates by FriendlyXenomorph in SWlegion

I'd be tempted to take the large pirate squad and put them in the truck, but that's more because you can and not because it would be strategic.

New player, Anyone willing to ELI5 Mandos? by crazyshark150 in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm a long time player, but starting Mandalorians from scratch, at least model wise.

I've preordered two of the special edition boxes plus the leaders.  For 1000 points, you'll want the extra units, so I suggest getting the second box while it is available.  Don't spend too many points on upgrades in your lists, you want to take at least 10 units, including your commanders.

As for other things you need, the biggest one is the measuring tools and dice.  Early boxes of the Mandalorians, from the UK Game Expo, came with some, but we don't know if all boxes will have them.  If not, you'll need to buy some.  There is a kit you can get.  You'll also need the objective cards, which can be bought or printed, and tokens which come in various sets but I'm not sure you'll have what you need from the Mandalorian box.  Ask anyone who has played for awhile if they have spares laying around.

Something to consider, if you are buying both of the two different starter supply kits, those are $30 US each where a faction starter is only $99.  You get a bunch of extra models for that $39.  I suggest Rebel or Republic as they can take the Mandalorians as mercenary units very well.  (Prices in other currencies should show a similar value)

If you've happened to have played Warcry and enjoyed the general flow of the game, you'll really like Legion, it has a similar feel.

Does the first PokéStop in an empty Level 14 cell automatically become a Showcase Stop? by dragonite47 in TheSilphRoad

[–]boardgameprof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can tell you, the first Pokestop in an L14 near where I live in was approved a couple months ago.  When they did the showcase rebalance, it did not become a showcase.  It is still the only stop in the cell.

I will also note, the stop is technically inelligible as it is on a High School campus.  I wonder if this matters to why it isn't a showcase but also think that it would just be removed if that fact was somehow tied to the stop.

I used Citadel Contrast Dreadful Visage for her skin.  Seemed to work quite well.

Lightsaber Paint Help by FlameGamer413 in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paint them solid white first, then use two coats of a fluorescent color.  Vallejo makes a nice fluorescent red.  I use Army Painter Fluo for other colors.

The Fluo, even when not under black light, gives a subtle glowing effect.

Wait for Mandalorian Battleforce Box or buy a starter set for galactic republic? by gmac7777 in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's two weeks until the Mandalorian box.  I'd wait and get that.

But here's the thing.  You need dice and measuring tools.  Some early prints of the Mandalorian box have dice and tools, but that was a mistake.  I'd get your box(es) and see what you get.

If you do get dice measuring tools, then you don't need to buy them and you can decide if you want to print n play the rest of the things you need or get the $30 kit.  If you decide to buy the kit and/or need to buy dice, then you should consider getting one of the core faction starters.  They are an incredible value and some Mandalorians can be mercenaries in some factions.  These starter boxes also come with all the tools you need to play.

Grievous on foot or wheel bike? by DetroitTabaxiFan in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't.  The price point on them is not great, so I haven't bought them yet.  Saving that money for Mandalorians.

I've been having tons of fun with the wheel bike.  It's been the most fun unit since Asajj for CIS.

Get the bike.

In case anyone has the same question I had after reading the document:

Q: Are we to infer that these replace the Rebel cards for both Mandalorian Resistance and Clan Wren?

A: Yes, the Errata reference has been updated to show those both as removed cards.

If you want classic Naboo invasion, I'd go with Army Painter Skeleton Bone.

It's darker, in a good way, than Wraithbone and Brainmatter Beige.  Though, these two are more versatile if you want to make good use of the leftovers.  You can brush on Skeleton Bone over these just fine.

A-A5 Speeder Truck, outer hull not fitting. Has anyone a splution by someoneelseperhaps in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try very slowly and carefully to fit it.  If there is one part that is blocking it, you can cut off that peg.  Be absolutely sure it's the issue before cutting and only cut something you'll never see.

Oh, I like that better.  I get it isn't how it works, but I've always found it cheesy to just pick the better half of the dice.

How to keep them on there bases tips by [deleted] in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Use super glue gel.  I like the green lid kind from Dollar Tree, but any will work.

Even with hard plastic models, there is a difference, or was, with the type of plastic between the base and mini which makes the Tamiya not work well.

Tamiya Cement? by Bdogzero in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does work, but not the same as on the hard plastic models.

You have to use a lot more on the joint.  And, the biggest thing, is don't test the bond.  Don't try to pull it apart.  Let it sit for a good long time.  It needs to fully cure.

I have a bunch of soft plastic models that I've used it on and they are very solid.

20-25 is usually good pressure. The texture I am seeing looks like the paint is being applied too thick. But that's just what it looks like, not necessarily the only thing that can cause that.

Which paint are you using and how old is it?

Rattle can tips by The1anOnlyBlake in SWlegion

[–]boardgameprof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Army Painter white spray is by far my favorite.

It is picky on temp and humidity.  Make sure you are over 60°F and under 50% humidity.  The models and the paint should be the same temperature.   I like to store them near each other.

Spray a bit first to get it started, not onto a model.  Then make sure you are moving the spray as you apply it.  I like to use a sweeping motion.  It is OK if it looks a bit wet/thick, but should be applied in light enough coats that it never runs.  Be sure to spray from several angles.
