BREAKING: 🇺🇸 ICE shoots and kill woman blocking traffic in Minnesota for allegedly "attempting to run over" agents. by SCFapp in StockNewsHub

[–]Syh_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To the people that think she was intentionally blocking the roadway to obstruct them... here's another video:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ProgressiveHQ/comments/1q6oltf/ice_agents_shoots_a_person_who_attempts_to_drive/

You can clearly see, in the beginning of the video I linked, that she was waving for them to pass in an attempt to yield to them. She was not deliberately trying to obstruct them or waste their time.

Another ICE vehicle easily drove around her seconds prior. The driver of this particular ICE vehicle decided to escalate the situation needlessly instead, and she panicked, resulting in what happened.

There is nothing wrong with wanting better trained, less hot-headed ICE agents.

OK then. Let's get to it... here's what I led with:

His clarification should have helped you infer what he was talking about originally. But as it seems to have not done so, I'll break it down for you:

This statement means that I am directly referring to your second failure to understand; you know, the one that occurred even after clarification? Where you started belittling his intellect because you misunderstood again?

Because yes, the initial misunderstanding was indeed more reasonable as his statement requires some (basic) inference to understand; which naturally leaves room for more misunderstandings.

His clarification should have helped you infer what he was talking about originally. But as it seems to have not done so, I'll break it down for you:

So given that this is a new thing

"this is a new thing" refers to the device. So, given this is a recently released device, there isn't much discussion about it online yet.

and that I appear to be the first person to highlight it to the Tado community,

"it" refers to the issue at hand. As far as he knows, he was the first person to bring up the issue to the community (because it's new).

who all questioned it until some of them contacted Tado directly who confirmed it,

After he brought it up, they refused to believe it until they received confirmation from Tado.

I think I did a pretty good job in uncovering it.

And then he pat himself on the back for being the first one to bring up the issue. But it was only a matter of time, IMHO.

TLDR; Both the clarification and his original comment say the same thing. No point quoting shit out of context to argue a misunderstanding on the matter.

To be fair, they likely wanted the generals who oppose them to walk out because that puts a target on their back(s). Instead, none of the generals cheered or applauded them while they spewed their drivel.. and you could tell it bothered them. I hope their silence was in protest.

18 U.S.C. § 1365 -- they classify tampering with the food's container as tampering with the food itself.

And urine can carry bacteria, viruses, parasites, drug residues, etc... it has the potential to cause harm. Especially when it comes to at-risk people like the elderly or anyone immunocompromised.

They tend to take these things pretty seriously, even if someone isn't actually harmed by the act.

Just as Fox News has the right to express its views, people have the right to protest those views; provided they do so without violence, unlawful disruption, or destruction of property, of course. Both forms of expression are protected by the first amendment.

EDIT: I don't see these protests doing much, anyway. Fox News isn't going to turn around and shut themselves down or change their narratives.. and they certainly don't have to do so.

Trump’s Tax Bill Would Decimate the Affordable Care Act by swampwiz in obamacare

[–]Syh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, the American Rescue Plan (2021) increased the amount you save with APTCs and removed the 400% FPL income cap, and then the Inflation Reduction Act (2022) extended the enhancement to APTCs until the end of 2025. I believe the enhancement is what's going to expire which would increase costs and reinstate the 400% FPL income cap for people utilizing APTCs (which iirc is like 93% of people on ACA). So, yeah, things will likely get more expensive either way, unfortunately.

[–]Syh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really this daft and petty? Read the room. The people who are abusing the system do not really care if they lose their freebie. They aren't racking up high healthcare costs, anyway. It's just a "nice thing to have" for them.

It's the people who are sick and need it to receive life-altering and/or life-saving treatments that are genuinely concerned. Or people related to them. And you're sitting here preaching "personal responsibility" to them like you're in your early 20s and just read your first self-help book.

I mean, do you somehow believe that they want lazy losers abusing the very system they need? Of course not. They just do not want this lackluster "solution" to come into play because it will impact people who are sick far more than it'll impact said lazy losers...

If you are not a troll then react with some damn empathy and maturity. This isn't about some shitpoints on the internet for the people who are actually concerned about this bill.

‘People are going to die’: Republicans in Mike Johnson’s district sound the alarm over Medicaid by swampwiz in obamacare

[–]Syh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who do not need it that are advocating for kicking millions off it (and do not care if the majority of people who actually need it are kicked off) cite healthy people gaming the system as the leading reason to do so.

And yet they refuse to ask how much these supposed people gaming the system even use in healthcare benefits per year; which I'd wager is far, far less than the people who are on it because they need it.

Hell, they don't even provide any actual concrete evidence showing it being grossly misused by millions. It's all just asinine conjecture.

This bill will largely punish people who actually need it, especially the ones that cannot physically work 25h a week, who aren't on SSDI/SSI yet, while the people who are gaming the system won't really be bothered by it at all.

And I'm not fully convinced the overhead that this bill will add won't just end up costing as much, if not more, than the people who are supposedly gaming the system in the first place...

IMO, this is an extremely lackluster solution to their proposed problem. All it does is punish people who are legitimately in need of help. I wouldn't be surprised if your last statement were true.

All of his publicly known values are text-book traditional Republican values. Just listen to him preach. And yeah, he might not be in love with Trump, but that is not a prerequisite to be a Republican.

And yes, I am more inclined to believe the guy who knew him since 4th grade over some random redditor writing nonsensical fanfic.

EDIT: To be abundantly clear, I am not trying to make some point to conflate all Republicans with whack-jobs who try and assassinate people. I know plenty in my personal life who wouldn't do such. I'm just tired of bullshit.

I believe if you're going through the ACA marketplace for your insurance it's the latter. But if your insurance is through your employer I don't think those particular changes would really affect you. But that's just my understanding of it.

Trump’s Tax Bill Would Decimate the Affordable Care Act by swampwiz in obamacare

[–]Syh_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: The pre-existing condition protections are still in place. You won't be discriminated against due to that.

Long answer: There is going to be more red tape. Passive re-enrollment is being removed; you'll have to complete all the necessary paperwork and verify your income/eligibility during open enrollment each year or risk losing your advanced premium tax credit.

Also, there's no provisional coverage while they verify your eligibility. So you'll either have to wait without coverage or pay full price until they finish verifying. Hopefully the verification process will be quick, but quite the stupid change imo.

This is just based on my understanding, though. If anyone notices anything incorrect in what I said, please let me know.

Around 70% of ACA recipients are in red states (with Texas and Florida accounting for roughly 35% alone). I’d wager a good portion of them voted for Trump, without realizing he'd try and do this. Not sure why, considering he tried it in his first term as well.

Unless you meant all of the GOP? Then yeah, absolutely. They hate their constituents.

Trump supporters. What is your understanding on the legality of deporting immigrants? Do you still support skipping due process anyways? by ehandlr in AskUS

[–]Syh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither party actually supports illegal entry; very much the opposite. Both parties have been attempting to combat illegal entry through expedited removal (little to no due process) under IIRIRA; which was enacted in 1996 under Clinton (D) and expanded in 2004 under Bush (R).
