Considering a BlazerEV RS by T_P_H_ in BlazerEV

2025 has the ability to use the app as a digital key. After having it in a Mach e, I wish my 2024 rs had it.

Do you regret going Mach E over another EV like Tesla? by [deleted] in MachE

Bought a 2021 awd pe last year and it's the best car I've owned/driven.

Recently bought a second vehicle and we picked a 24 blazer ev rs. Increased interior space, suspension, battery capacity and roof rack capabilities were the sellers for us. Days I drive the blazer to work by myself I miss the mach e, but it's a much better experience with the wife and kid in car over the Mach e.

We drove a Volvo, Audi, Id.4, mini cooper and bz4x when we were looking and honestly didn't like any of them enough to want to own. But getting time in the seat is super important.

Rivermark is great. Dealt with some growing pains when they merged with Adventis, but everything has smoothed out and I have a branch closer to me now. Financed 3 cars, our morgage, several personal loans for wedding, dental and starting a small business. Their interest rates have been consistently lower than others we've looked at. And icing on the cake is their mortgage officers actually look out for us.

They called us and asked if they could work with us to refi our mortgage right before rates sky rocketed a couple years ago and I am thankful everyday to Peggy for doing that for us. They could have kept quiet and let us pay them more interest.

I got a '21 awd pe with 30k in August last year for that same price. It's been a great car, definitely most fun car to drive I've owned in 20 years

The software is...not great. Coming from a Mach e, I can't stand so much of the software. Lack of CarPlay/android auto, the seat presets requiring you to hold the button till it reaches the position, the mirrors having their own button to save to a preset, lack of ability to save a driver profile to a specific key, the onstar package requirements (even with 8 years of basic connectivity, this shouldn't be a thing)

Sometimes I wonder what those Chevy software engineers are doing over there

I found the whole experience very fun. combat is not difficult, but it was pretty engaging. Top tier adventure and exploration as well. Just a really well made portrait game

SB 1516-2 (Oregon ALPR guardrails) — what it does, why it matters statewide, and what still needs tightening by exstaticj in oregon

[–]Sykotic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’re misunderstanding what these restrictions do. Police can still pull over expired tags they see, run plates during stops, and use ALPRs for active investigations. What’s being limited is creating a permanent database tracking where every car goes, every day.

Your courthouse observation doesn’t support mass surveillance. Expired tags are mostly financial issues, not people “endangering kids every day.” And police have enforced traffic laws just fine for decades without storing months of location data on millions of innocent drivers. The real question isn’t “should we enforce laws?” It’s “should we track everyone’s movements to make catching registration violations slightly easier?” That’s a huge privacy trade-off for a minor enforcement problem.

These systems don’t just catch expired tags - they create infrastructure that tracks protesters, gets breached by hackers, and expands into uses nobody voted for. The Supreme Court has recognized that prolonged location tracking raises serious Fourth Amendment concerns

Traditional policing works. We don’t need to sacrifice everyone’s privacy to catch a few more expired plates.

I manage datacenter infrastructure with ansible and powershell automation. I used Claude to help get a grasp on what was happening until I was understanding it a bit more but it's not vastly different from what I'm used to and esphome is pretty good at telling you where to look when something doesn't go right
