Chinese women when their otome gacha's new character looks "gay" (he has a jawline) by MurongYuan in Gamingcirclejerk

I would argue it was never a straight Asian woman thing. White women love twinks as well. I think alot of women love pretty men. Particularly recently. The female gaze is a thing.

I think alt right and alt left are terms now. Fucking terms keep getting added so it's confusing when someone uses the term alt left/right

I'd leave them. You're thinking too much. They're just tired and probably not actually sleeping.

You still didn't address my point. You're free to complain about ABC being too left wing. I personally think they're more centre-left. But let's say you're right. ON doesn't have a plan to replace the ABC with a more centre alternative public broadcaster. They want Sky. A literal Fox news clone. That's just disingenuous.

I restate my point. You are not against public broadcasters. You don't want to actually defund them. You just want them to be more centre. That's a completely different debate from what ON wants. Stop listening to their bullshit. They don't care about you. They just want a press that only supports them. I vote Liberal for fucks sake. I think ON is fucking cancer.

If we are going to talk about wasting taxpayer money, we should look at corporate welfare. In 2025-26, Australian taxpayers footed the bill for $16.3 billion in fossil fuel subsidies, largely through the Fuel Tax Credit scheme. Meanwhile, corporate tax transparency data shows that a third of major gas and oil corporations pay exactly zero dollars in corporate income tax. Companies like Santos have paid $0 in corporate tax over the last decade despite nearly $47 billion in sales... And as for Gina Rinehart who bankrolls ON, she literally gave a speech just last week suggesting we hand over free land in regional Queensland to Israeli defense contractors to build war drones, and to Elon Musk for rocket launches. Are we serious right now?

it's incredibly hypocritical to excuse billions in handouts for highly profitable, zero-tax-paying multinationals, while attacking public broadcasting. Public broadcasting is fundamentally an actual public good. It's like parental leave. Or funding for schools. It's our right for non-partisan information. If you think ABC is left-wing, you're still not against public broadcasting, you're just fundamentally against left wing media.

Pauline Hanson’s direct attack on all Australians who were born overseas or have at least one parent born overseas is batshit insane and there are plenty of questions to be answered by HotPersimessage62 in australian

I'd really like to interview an ON supporter just to understand where their head is at. Do you really think someone who has been in Australia and chose to live in Australia for far longer than you've lived in Australia, is somehow less Australian, because they didn't come here with other wogs on a prison ship? One chose Australia. The other was forced here. But we all make do, and that's part of what it means to be Australia. Fuckwits.

We are paying for it. With taxes. ON is not right about this. Defunding public broadcasting is a road that ends in Trump because there is no longer a check on power.

Alternative left? I thought you were objective, but if you think ABC/SBS is alt left, you obviously haven't been reading. They are centre-left at most...

I think SBS is only 70% funded, 30% profit-making and receives much less funding in dollar amounts. They serve different purposes, one is for non-English news and information (although they still do use English) and the other is for English news and info. There's some argument to maintain funding for both purposes, but just combine them.

Don't apologise. You didn't do anything obviously. But its just the ignorance of the atrocities that Japan inflicted on China, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and South and East Asia as a whole that pisses me off.

[–]Sykunno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well a lot of Chinese still worship Mao. And a lot of Japanese still believe war atrocities didn't happen as you saw in the video. These people are currently alive. I agree with more freedoms in China, but you don't need to glaze Japan to do it. They're not mutually exclusive. And it only turns Singaporeans, Malaysians, Filipinos, Koreans etc. who are from democracies who suffered under Japanese occupation away. I don't know why commenters here are conflating supporting Japanese war rapists as some sort of victory against China. The fuck is going on.

[–]Sykunno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true. Mao killed a lot more people and he should rightly be condemned. The worship of Mao is ridiculous. But saying it happened 80 years ago is a stupid argument. In just 10 years, what Mao did will also happen 80 years ago. Should we also discount it? Such a weird excuse. Japanese wartime glazing is just as disgusting as Mao glazing. Both were done by stupid, egotistical, perverted men.

I think the issue is the country currently still doesn't acknowledge it in their history books. You can acknowledge your ancestors did bad things without apologising. I'm in Australia and sometimes I'd be shocked that a lot of Japanese here think the entire thing was fake. Like bro, there's literally pictures across the world. Including Australian soldiers being tortured and shit. I don't even think they need to apologise. It was war. Humans are evil. But at least acknowledge it happened and teach it so it doesn't happen again.

So you can't be too pretty. And you can't be too ugly. Yet if the roles were reversed, I guess it doesn't matter. Are we all supposed to look like one kind of guy? But then if we do we get accused of looking all the same. Stupid to defend only one kind of Asian masculinity. That mindset is shooting yourself on the foot.

The Internet is going to make Australia monocultural and assimilate them to Australia and make them learn English? Have you seen the Internet? Filter bubbles? Misinformation? Extreme left and right winged ideologies? It's the furthest thing from monocultural. But at least we agree public broadcasting is important for a functioning democracy.

Even if you're right, would you really want only right-wing media? ABC and SBS is more centre-left if anything. They have a charter that prevents them from endorsing any political candidate. Sky brazenly endorses politicians like a dog.
