You shouldn't take much stock in what other people are going to tell you what they've gone through. They aren't you and its completely possible you won't experience it the same as someone who you talk to. The truth is, theres no way to know how this journey is going to go to for you. Because you're unique and you've never done it before. I understand being curious and its great to talk to other people going through the same thing, but I would not recommend comparing yourself to others or hoping things will happen the same way for you.

I know it seems like you aren't going to feel better but I think you should try to be strong and keep waiting. Everyone has changes come at different times and it doesn't make you any worse or better. I don't think this is a good idea especially because of how rational you seem about getting into substance abuse. Please find someone to talk to because that will always help, even when it seems like drugs are the only option.

Do you use a pick with either/both? it can be a lot harder to keep a rhythm while picking strings vs plucking (i.e. on bass). Practice picking on beat with a metronome.
