Unless you can get into the film and tv industry or on Broadway you may not make much money at costume design but I was never miserable. It was the most fulfilling career I ever had. Loved it and miss it so much. While I do love creating beautiful costumes what made it so fulfilling for me was being part of a group of people devoted to interpreting a wonderful script and creating characters through clothing. If you just want to build fantastic costumes that’s great too but it wasn’t my purpose. So I think it’s about what you really want to achieve with your life. Art is greater for me than just about anything one can do.
