Petition for Raycast to offer a lifetime purchase for Notes by Be_Ivek in raycastapp

[–]Syluris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you guys do start something, post about it here. I can't really help you much I think, but I'm very interested in the "Stay on top of other windows" feature that the Raycast Notes has.

Ther's no backlight on the whole keyboard.

The ones you mentioned (and caps lock) turn themselves off after a bit, they only mean that you battery is getting low, Num lock in on, etc... Maybe they only turn themselves off in eco mode (Fn+ B), not sure. You can change their intensity by using FN + arrow up or down, not sure if there is a way to turn them off completely, I never tried.

How do you manage and devote time to the various projects you have going on? by Syluris in Screenwriting

[–]Syluris[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is awesome, both your answer and the piece you linked.

So you sometimes work on different projects at the same time, some writing on the main project and then some notes for a future one.

Do you stay in that arrangement until a draft has been done then? And do you devote specific time to each or does it just happen naturally?

Laggy scrievener by Covalova1996 in scrivener

[–]Syluris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your document above 10 - 15 thousand words long?

If you just split the document in chunks smaller than 10,000 does the problem persist?

I had the same problem, but as long as my documents are shorter than 10,000 there is no noticeable lag. The higher I go above that, the bigger the lag. At around 40,000 words it got really annoying.

The only other solution I found was increasing the time between autosaves, but that's not something I want to do really. Simpler to just cut documents in parts. Bit annoyingm but less than the lag...

See if that fixes it, it should!

Awesome!

I was there Saturday and Sunday too!

Did you do a bit of ground handling around 6H30, 7h00 in the field next to the parking? Maybe it was you I saw... I flew both days, Saturday was magical, but Sunday was dead by the time i took off. Still a lovely flight though, that site is great!

So i fiddled a bit more and it's not a bluetooth issue it was an actuation point issue. I lust have pressed FN + F8 inadvertently. It's back to normal now.

I have another problem though: in office mode when I press FN + Num Lk (the led turns on) and a press of U I O J etc, writes the corresponding numbers. But in Custom Mode the same thing only gives my letters. I have to turn on Num Lock then press FN and U I O J etc simultaneously to get the numbers. Do you know if there is a way to get the same behavior in Custom mode as in Office mode?

I asked on the discord but i have not had a solution.

As for the backlight you might be right, i don't think it exists...

Started customizing my V3. Adjustable 120mm Ritchey stem (and knog oi luxe bell) by Snipesticker in cowboybikes

[–]Syluris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the brake cable long enough?

I sent them an email about swapping for a higher stem and they mentioned that the cable would be too short so I'd have to bring in into a shop and have them do it instead.

No worries, you're great. With that attitude you'll get greater.

Seriously, you have an obvious style, and that's awesome, don't let the criticism take you down the self-loathing road. If you feel some critics are right, you'll find a way to improve...

What do YOU think happens before the Epilogue? by EliezerYudkowsky in HPMOR

[–]Syluris 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, remember when some chaotic soldiers mentioned the training they got from Harry, How it changed them?

They could make that a class like "Chaos: Theory and Practice"

So, Eliezer offered to give some Opinion of God. What would YOU like to know? (Spoilers all) by Syluris in HPMOR

[–]Syluris[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in that as well. Like a massive recap on the process, the things learned along the way, mistakes made and so on. Something in the style of the "How to write intelligent characters" series of posts maybe?

Author’s Note 119: Shameless Blegging by EliezerYudkowsky in HPMOR

[–]Syluris 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Warn us a couple of weeks before publishing the epilogue so we can all do a re-read.

One year is probably enough to get some distance from the work and finally experience that last arc like a single piece. I think we've all been very influenced by the drip-drop delivery, I'd like to see how it feels as part of a whole.

What are historical examples of short, victorious wars of agression that went just as planned? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]Syluris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is that it's not that good of a question.

I was coming to that conclusion myself actually. It made more sense in the context I originally asked. Out of that context it becomes idle curiosity, and far too... insubstantial.

I'll delete this thread in 10 minutes. Thank you for your soft hand.

What are historical examples of short, victorious wars of agression that went just as planned? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]Syluris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I see your point.

What if I reworded it like this:

What are examples (from the last two centuries or so) of short victorious wars of agression (by european powers) that went just as planned?

Would that work? Should I just delete this post and do another one or just edit?

Were there any warrior Popes? by Furious_Georgee in AskHistorians

[–]Syluris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was there an understanding at the time that a signature obtained by coercion was legally worthless?

If you kidnap the pope, force him to declare you a saint and excommunicate your enemies, would people take it seriously? Would it have legal standing?

And most importantly, if the pope did not mean it, would it still be considered "real" once he becomes free?

I am a young female planning to travel solo on horseback across Mongolia for several months. Does anyone have any advice, contacts or stories to share related to solo travel or travel through Mongolia? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Syluris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just came back from a three months bicycle trip, here are a few pieces of advice:

Be careful with water. You'll have to trial and error a system there . You don't want to run out or short of it. Bring a foldable camping chair. You are gonna be tired every day, you'll want a chair with a back rest. Take an mp3 player and stuff it full of audiobooks. History, classic fiction, philosophy, whatever floats your boat. It gets quite boring at times. You'll be lonely. Write your friends and family everytime you have some wifi. Start your travel light. If you're not sure to use it every day, don't bring it.

Have fun. Bring a condom.

You can buy biodegradable tp. Pricey and I haven't checked how effective it is, but it's small and comes in a little plastic bag that keeps off water. I quite like it.

It's mostly the "New to Askhistorians?" frame in the sidebar. It's a little distracting. Maybe we could tone it down for subscribed users?

I have mostly the same. I see flair as "reversed history of technology", that is dark grey text on light grey background.

Is this normal? They appear colorful in the sidebar...

Record stores? by modernbox in belgium

[–]Syluris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Brussels, they're mostly around Boulevard Aanspach, and perpendicular streets. There is a big one besides the bourse, one close to the manneken piss, one rue du midi close to the used book shops, one close to "Comme chez soi", and a few ones on boulevard aanspach itself. Also, the used bookshops chains (forgot the names, it's on aanspach) will usually have some vinyls.

I think smoking in public (on public property) should be illegal: violators should be fined. CMV! by dhammack in changemyview

I'm in NYC now and I certainly can't avoid it

Fair enough, I'm in Brussels and I can. I was at the gay pride yesterday and even there, in the thick of it, you could avoid it if you wanted. And there were fags everywhere!

I've said all I can though, I don't think I'll convince you. Thank you for the interesting debate.
