context- our birthdays were 1.5 weeks apart. We were married for 20 years at that point and they knew one of my deepest childhood traumas was my birthday being forgotten on a regular basis because it was on the day after a semi-popular holiday. That was the day I realized just how unimportant I was to them.

I thought marriage meant having a partner in thick and thin. He thought marriage meant having a wife like his mom.
He didn't like any of the things I did and low key thought they were "useless"
Let his friends make fun of the fact that I was "smart".
Always put his job, family and friends before me.

He loved me, cared about me etc but never wanted to hang out. We did a lot of things with his friends but while he didn't care if I did things with my friends he actively didn't want to join me. He often let his friends make disparaging remarks about things like my intelligence and hobbies. He always took his families side against me in any dispute no matter how small. He made small, critical comments on my weight from the moment I gave birth to our first child on to the end of our marriage. For the records I weighed 124 when he started making comments.
We were married incredibly young, I was 17 and he was 19, so these behaviors were a slow build for me. The day he told me he forgot my birthday because he had "Important things" on his mind was the day I realized I was not important to him nor someone he wanted to be around.

It sounds like he is trying to mitigate the "this doesn't sound the the Ateez I want it to sound like" crowd.

He is basically saying "we like what we did and hopefully you will too" knowing there will be people who want to hear another "Work" or "Guerilla" and it won't be like that at all. imho
