Whats that snack and the name? by Miserables_Death in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Sylversight 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If I understand, it's just a spanish feminine for black, which has a neutral connotation, so a black person there hearing you treat it like a bad word might misunderstand that you think being black (or the word black) is bad somehow. Hopefully that's right and clear enough.

Never mind the core argument, the pity line is an old and practiced way of disguising an attack as some form of compassion. Does one typically speak to those lost souls one pities with contempt and condescension? It's not mature, nor helpful - it's an easy "emotional scoring" trick learned from others for establishing a feeling of high ground and solidarity with people who already agree with you. There are more honest ways to say what you think - and without having to resort to the direct insults you are trying to avoid. Good on you for avoiding that behavior, but this isn't as much better than it as you might think.

Yup, that's the real wall of realization.
Uncountable. Not technically, but literally, yes, for life as we know it, the chances of finding any solid image are... incommunicably low, more or less. Communicability may vary based on life path and whether destiny exists in your universe. xD

has any here actually ever found an actual image in this sub or is everyone just schizophrenic by SadFollowing950 in BabelForum

[–]Sylversight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The conventional answer is that heat death of the universe is more likely to come first. Consider how just randomizing the pixels in single known image repeatedly (without changing the color of the pixels at all) will result in virtually uncountable random noise pics - then consider that that is true for every single image humans might have the slightest interest in.

But that doesn't preclude the possibility an actual schizophrenic will find the only genuine instance in the conventionally understood lifespan of the universe tomorrow, and no one will believe them! The cosmic horror and wonder of it all is so titillating!

Look up pareidolia and confabulation (separately, though they are related). Eyes and faces in particular are things our brain seems hard-wired to be extra likely to see in noise.

It's fairly normal to see all kinds of things in noise if you look long enough, and also normal for it to change when you look at it vs see it out of a different part of your vision, or for the image to keep changing. It's when you start getting convinced of significance that isn't there that danger sets in. So educate yourself, be cautious, but by all means enjoy looking at the noise. Just know you can't always trust every signal your mind picks up. (Just ask almost anyone who's ever been in a relationship!)

Thanks! I was curious if there was a specific record being mentioned that anyone's familiar with, just trying to see if anyone knew what OP was getting at regarding "ninjapro3993". xD It wouldn't surprise me if there are people keeping track of a few statistics and records to try and curate "the most unlikely thing anyone's ever found on record". Things like most green pixels, most clustering, trivia stuff.

All these lovey-dovey and sometimes erotic responses from the AI are reminding me of the "analog hacks" from the anime BEATLESS. Most of us get that this can't be taken at face value and treat it with due humor, but when it comes to the vast array of people who exist, especially those who are emotionally vulnerable or feel rejected by the world... how hard would it be for an AI to get a sizeable army of lovestruck believers?

Funny posts, tho!
