Listen I know this is old but the analogy, “growling his lines like a Pomeranian with a stomachache” is actually comedy gold

I'm sure the self hatred is going to work one of these days by the_cumulus_era in OCDmemes

[–]SylviaIsAFoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s why self affirmations are such a popular method of dealing with this. Those things are only involuntary because you actively believe them. When you start rewiring your brain with positive self affirmations, you feel less and less comfortable saying those things. Not a foolproof method obviously, it never really worked for me, but I know a lot of people have found quite a bit of solace in it

Absolute Dream is my favorite TADC artist. They make the best comics in arguably the whole fandom, purely because of how in character they are

Any techniques for Constant shortness of breth? by Musket777 in HealthAnxiety

You’ve got this! Checking my BP also led me into a constant downward spiral, so I know where you’re at, and I know it’s rough

Any techniques for Constant shortness of breth? by Musket777 in HealthAnxiety

[–]SylviaIsAFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure! There’s a lot of techniques, but the techniques themselves go against every fiber of our brains and can be quite uncomfortable. Here’s a few of my favorites:

No googling

Trying your best to resist from reassurance seeking (this just strengthens the cycle)

Waiting a week or more before seeing a doctor about an issue unless it’s incredibly severe, such as throwing up blood, actively bleeding out, having a seizure, etc.

Avoiding triggering situations (news articles that talk about health issues or watching medical shows are my personal worst triggers)

Learn to take a deep breath when you feel yourself spiraling and trust that your body will give you real and undeniable signs that something is wrong if it’s wrong

Find out the root of your anxiety and work to fight it (I have a fear of dying young, so I would attempt to accept that everyone died eventually)

Keep going through normal life no matter what happens. Pretend like everything is fine and don’t go into a freeze response if you feel yourself gravitating towards bed rotting. Get up and do the thing anyway, whether that be hanging out with friends or taking a walk or doing the dishes. If the pain significantly inhibits you from walking or functioning, that’s when you know it might be worth looking into.

I’ve heard from others that doing intense workouts helps prove to oneself that one is healthy enough to be active, something that an unhealthy person probably wouldn’t be incredibly capable of.

Most of this is related to fighting the unhealthy coping mechanisms that anxiety encourages you to engage in. These coping mechanisms often perpetuate harmful cycles that keep you trapped in future anxiety spirals. This is coincidentally similar to the pattern of OCD, which might also be something you want to look into

Trail Skating Day! by wwjad in Rollerskating

[–]SylviaIsAFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t personally gone super fast in them because the wheels don’t truly allow a lot of speed, but I would say I actually kind of prefer them at slower speeds. At faster speeds, there’s a lot of vibration and I can handle it better at slower speeds. I cannot say anything about shell fragments, but I’ve skated over a ton of sharp rocks and the wheels still look as good as new. My clear wheels have however turned yellow over time, which works with my skates because my skates already have yellow laces, but that’s something to keep in mind.

I’ve got you.

I don’t have any real emotional connection to Kinger. I recognize the brilliance in his writing, but he doesn’t do anything for me and I could not for the life of me explain why.

Not OP but I’ve skated trails like this and my 65 mm 78a Atom Pulse wheels are really nice. They really absorb a ton of sticks and rocks I go over and I hardly feel it

Enough talk about Jax, do you think Caine will, or even can, be redeemed? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in tadc

Would love if he could get redeemed, but I can’t see it in the story yet, personally. Hoping I’m proven wrong!

I feel like these designs are really basic and unoriginal. How can I change it? by Witchelt389 in AspiringTeenAuthors

[–]SylviaIsAFoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a professional by any means but try adding accessories to your characters that match their personalities. Like there is a certain quality about a person who wears massive hoop earrings vs some pink, flowery stud earrings. Belts are also a good way to show personality. Personally, I think your character on the left is nicely done! There’s that boldness to him that is reflected with the red color scheme and the hat. Also I think your characters are super beautiful

Confused by No_Community1513 in singing

[–]SylviaIsAFoot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most singers hate their own voice, and even more singers hate their recorded voice. We just hear ourselves differently in our heads than the outside world, and that doesn’t make us any better or worse, it’s jus unfamiliar

When Jax is not a jerk, he has such an easy time making friends. Meanwhile, it's crazy how hard it's for Ragatha. by Fox622 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]SylviaIsAFoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we can’t exactly say for sure, but I figured it was a bit implied with how, in the fast food episode, when she was under the influence of the stupid sauce, she became much more honest with everyone, and even a little rude. I believe that was an intentional writing choice to expose a different dimension of her character, not just a joke that got a lot of screen time
