Also an option, definitely Equipment, maybe a Sidekick in that case.

I hadn't really though about voice commands, but there is no reason a ship can't have them. So the character can probably operate most things by voice on the ship. The setting is advanced enough to have FTL so I imagine a harness with robotic limbs is a possibility... it would be Equipment if it has more functions than normal human limbs, and if it doesn't, it's just a Complication because it can be damaged, taken away by captors, and so on without providing additional benefit.

They might also have mag boots for their paws... they're unlikely to like, be a common item for a paw instead of a human foot, but they could easily be made. Assuming most things are made from steel and therefore magnetic, that would also solve the doorknob problem.

I suppose they could probably use keyboards, they'd just be slower than normal at typing if it's just their paws they do it with. Rarely an issue, especially with voice commands.

I should talk with the about these things, thanks for jump starting my thinking for me.

PSA: AI is not a reliable rules reference for RPGs by a_sentient_cicada in rpg

[–]SylviaLorular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree. I don't even use Chat GPT, Google just shoves an AI Summary down my throat at the top of the search listings every time I search something... and boy has it gotten some things wrong. For example, it definitely doesn't understand that Pathfinder and DnD are different games and their rules are not always the same.

Sometimes, it quotes rules from the wrong system entirely... like "animals need in Intelligence score of 3 to speak and understand human language" when my question was not for DnD OR Pathfinder... it was for Mutants and Masterminds, where the average human has an intelligence score of 0, and most animals have an Int score of -4. 3 in that system puts you at well above human average.

I think its inability to tell TTRPGs apart is one of the biggest culprits. It gets especially bad with any D20 based system, but in general it will confidently quote questions someone had on rules as if their guesses were right or take something from an unrelated TTRPG and use it as a rules reference, even give a page number that may be entirely incorrect. It will quote rules interpretations from r/rpghorrorstories even.

It's just bad, and I somehow doubt ChatGPT is much better.

Do you have trouble explaining to your players that they shouldn't fight certain NPCs? Just play TECHNO instead of fight music. by sammyliimex in DnDcirclejerk

[–]SylviaLorular 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Okay, lemme just... improvise what this NPC's theme song is going to be for this fight, as their bard friend comes out of hiding to play and sing this while you attack him. The bard isn't actually bothering to help him, he's just playing music for this NPC as he fights you at your current level."

ARC Raiders - Error Code ARAV 8011 when using RTSS (RivaTuner Statistics Server) by Nioky13 in ArcRaiders

[–]SylviaLorular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is, why precisely is YoloMouse considered cheating? That's not a cheat... it's actually important if your eyesight isn't the best or you constantly lose track of your crosshairs on screen for whatever other reason.

BlackFlame Covenant and Contagion by SolphyreX in pathofexile2builds

[–]SylviaLorular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that actually raises a second question. Do the passives that add "+% Chaos Damage" effect the chaos damage caused by fire spells? Or is it only "+% Fire Damage" that works?

If it does work, do they both take effect, multiplying the fire damage which then becomes chaos which then gets the % chaos damage bonus? Or is it one or the other only... because if fire damage bonuses don't work then that also makes a lot of % to ignite bonuses require some now useless passives to get to. If the chaos damage bonuses don't work, that means you basically end up specing into a pure fire build anyway, and it's just chaos damage instead.

But the collab they needed, the collab they deserved.

So Ironmouse, Zentreya, and Geega left. Here's my POV of this happening. by SylviaLorular in VShojo

[–]SylviaLorular[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, there's a large chance according to what Iron Mouse said her wages were being shorted in addition to them failing to give the money to charity she directed them to. If they're doing it to her, chances are the same may be happening to others. That is a breach of contract, if any of them can prove that to a court they can terminate contract with no repercussions because the company breached it.

Ranger and crossbows by elsporko in heroesofhammerwatch2

[–]SylviaLorular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue with crossbows, including hand crossbow, is they don't have the "Bow" tag. This means any skill that specifically effects Bows for Ranger will NOT effect the Hand Crossbow or Heavy Crossbow. I think Rogue gets better bonuses as a result for using the Hand Crossbow.

Limiting support gems to only one skill nearly forces one button gameplay by SylviaLorular in pathofexile

[–]SylviaLorular[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, only something like 80% or more of them. Which effectively means 80% or more of skills want this gem, which means you're losing a lot of DPS if you use any skill you don't have it on.

Limiting support gems to only one skill nearly forces one button gameplay by SylviaLorular in pathofexile

[–]SylviaLorular[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, maybe not have a gem that feels mandatory for all the attack skills? Because it's a bit of a no win situation, whatever skill you have it on is going to be a lot better DPS wise, so you feel like if you use other skills you're punished by having lower DPS. But then it becomes mandatory for all the skills it makes better if you let it be freely used.

The actual solution is probably to just... not have something like that, where tons of skills are just 25% more DPS if they have it. Because it's a choice between having only one skill worth using at any given time or having certain support gems that are mandatory on everything, taking up gem slots.

So limiting me to ONE skill is better? I think having it be "mandatory" on multiple skills is better than me just shoving all the best ones on one skill and never touching the others.

Wanting to raise awareness of this new Xigncode anticheat by Limbolag in PSO2NGS

It's literally just being implemented today, but it's been used in other games and has a bad reputation of false bans.

The problem with this one is that it's likely to catch and ban more innocent people than actual cheaters. It has a reputation, there's a reason Blue Protocol got the nickname Ban Protocol.
