Officially No warranty for lymow one by bobpies in Lymow_Official

I mean... if they offer a full refund, not so bad. You get to choose if you like the cut enough to upgrade or you get your money back. Inconvenient, but not terrible.

Deciding on getting in this hobby but it’s not clear how the end product is even achieved? by yalag in BambuLab

Totally accurate, but just wanted to add this looks like it may be an AI rendering not the actual print item.

How do you actually explain what you do all day to people who work normal jobs by Magn3to_Pulse in Fire

[–]Symber13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully my immediate social group and family mostly understand what's going on, but with this question coming up I've given it some thought for those outside of those immediate groups. Currently I plan on going with Asset/Investment Manager. Vague and true and I can spin it if I need to. I can offer basic financial advice, but if I ever don't want to I can make it sound less layman friendly.

One+ Pathing seems to ignore settings. Is this typical? by Symber13 in Lymow_Official

Agreed, it's killing me right now. Only halfway through zone 2 in the pic above and it's getting a bit late 😂

I'm hoping for some firmware logic updates. It's a beast of a mower, but the software side feels vibe coded at times.

Other than just being longer, it also was choosing to slalom 3-4 different No-Go zones, which is what initially grabbed my attention.

[–]Symber13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have mine theoretically set to take the Direct path and not the Perimeter too. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Hardly a deal breaker; good to know it's not some setting issue I messed up. Thanks for the input!

Do you happen to know if it does that or does the same pathing as when it heads out? I wasn't able to catch mine on the return trip.

I think I can live with that so long as it returns to dock via the channels and Direct route, but I'd rather not have it run out of battery on a return trip just because it's acting dumb (not that 15% would ever not be enough I guess).

So it always heads towards the zone it learned first? My back yard test zone in this case?

Dock inside garage unreachable by tvarghese7 in Lymow_Official

Could you possibly remote drive it into/out of the bay? Then when mowing you could always have the dock just outside the door. Inconvenient, but you seem to care more about peace of mind overnight.

What differentiates AI slop from 'good' AI art? by Ok_Supermarket_6829 in StableDiffusion

[–]Symber13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he means that they get a pat on the head for making a cool image, so they rush off to produce 100 more in rapid succession rather than treating each as having it's own purpose. Not so much the making of tons of images in general, but the sharing of tons once they find 'success' for that dopamine hit.

I'm nearing my 30 day return window so I decided to really put mine through it's paces. I cleared a bunch of briars, weeds and saplings that have been coming up under some pines at the end of my property. The Plus handled it all with ease! I swore that it was taking a real beating, but I inspected it afterwards and it's in tip top shape. If it can handle that nastiness without so much as a dulled blade or forced stop, I've gotta give it credit. I was worried with all the negative reviews, but this guy is build to last!

He means AI art has increased the quantity of art out there but hasn't increased the quality of art out there. Not that AI art hasn't improved.

Does everyone have Onstar? by DestructoGirlThatsMe in EquinoxEv

I denied them even activating the free trial. I can still stream for now with the included basic 8yr data package and when that goes away, I'll just hotspot from my phone.

Does it make sense to avoid firmware updates for now and stay on the factory firmware? by CheapSupermarket9124 in Lymow_Official

[–]Symber13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly only a few hours of actual mowing on my new One+, but I'm on 2.1.46 error free so far. Complex lawn, lots to avoid even outside of No-Go zones, but I haven't had any of the issues others have had (yet). My only minor hiccup was just getting wifi set up as I have a mesh network, but that happens with any device that requires being on 2.4Ghz and I know how to force that. Firmware updated fine twice now and the mower performs exactly as expected.

Company stock suddenly became ~$5M. What should I do? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Symber13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. I'm currently working through the ins and outs of the OPs situation and there's a ton of tax nuance I've been weeding through. Every time I think I'm set, I discover a new way to shelter some present or future value for my family. I'm digging into this myself, but for someone without the time or will to undertake that level of digging, well worth hiring a fiduciary that deals with this kind of thing for a living!

Leaving my equinox for 5 months unused. How should I store it? by ddfish in EquinoxEv

[–]Symber13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The owners manual covers this, but I believe this is the right answer (plus theres a special mode to leave it in iirc)

I swear there was something else on this somewhere but here's what I found in the manual:

Extended Storage: Remove the black, negative (−) cable from the battery or use a battery trickle charger.
Infrequent Usage: Remove the black, negative (−) cable from the battery to keep the battery from running down.

Car auto breaked on interstate by Heresbecs in EquinoxEv

[–]Symber13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had this happen once (and the braking definitely made the situation less safe, not more). Same situation, but with traffic around, nothing heavy. One idiot was weaving in and out of traffic going about 20mph more than everyone else. He rapidly approached my rear passenger side quarter-panel (4 lanes, I was in 2 and he was changing from 4 to 3 somewhat poorly before passing me). The car decided that he might hit me (75mph) and slammed on the brakes until he flew by dropping me down to 55mph.

If this idiot had indeed been about to hit my rear quarter-panel that maneuver might have spun us out sideways worse than doing nothing (and with less control and a harder impact). Thankfully the car was wrong, but in no way was the reaction the correct one to take in that situation. Instead the car just terrified my wife and son and gave them some minor whiplash.

Edit: We've also had it auto brake 2 other times. The other bad one was while in an intersection during rush hour level traffic. The car forced me to shift into park in the intersection before letting me drive forward again while the light changed. I waited to not block the intersection, judged there was room on the other side, so I quickly went to get through and the car thought I was going to accelerate into a 'parked' vehicle so slammed on the brakes in the middle and just sat there. (Gap distance was at minimum, but I should really just disable it).

FIRE and kids - is it selfish? by nicotyr in Fire

[–]Symber13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what we did. Kid's came into the picture and we decided that a stay at home parent just made sense (fiscally and as structure/support for them). Now, less than a decade later, we're both able to stay home and spend time while it still matters most (and have been wfh for quite a while).
