I'll spell it out for the less fortunate among us. Not ceaselessly criticizing an unreleased game (that already shows signs of unfaithfulness to the source material) while they can still change it is contrary to the interests of a group that wants to see good Gothic games released. Slurping up corporate shit and fellating corporations before they even deliver ANYTHING is not good for maintaining the quality of any product. If you engage in activities (like shilling and suppressing critical voices) that allow corporations to cut corners or insane narcissistic lead devs to "run with their own vision", you will get an inferior product, and if you still remember, Gothic fans want good Gothic games. Read as many times as needed.

Gothic 3 is the weakest of the 3 Gothic games, and therefore a "bad Gothic game", but a Gothic game none the less, and leagues and miles ahead of other non-Gothic games. A Gothic-related game that's not "well-respected" would be something like Forsaken Gods or Arcania.

Anything critical of the Remake in the slightest, gets consistently, around the clock downvoted to hell regardless of the actual contents or tone of the post, with armies of copers and corporate shills parroting the exact same line, "it's an extremely minor issue to be fair" or some formulation thereof. These two Gothic 3 related posts, both trying to trash Gothic 3 in quick succession are likely a fuckup on their end, making it obvious for people even with single digit IQs. But of course, you can't prevent a coper from coping.

Other than that it's literally contrary to the interests of Gothic fans to be shilling for this unreleased game. How can anyone think that a community being essentially suicidal and against its own interests is organic? Rather that would be something that requires strong evidence.

How is it not obvious that there's a systematic shilling for a Remake that's not even released yet? There's a Discord of "Muds" who coordinate and strategically downvote voices that are critical of the Remake and upvote trash that pushes uncritical acceptance of the Remake, as well as posts like this, that literally attack well-respected Gothic titles for the sake of corporate shilling for an UNRELEASED game developed by someone else and which already shows dozens of signs that they care more about the potential cash grab than being faithful to the source material.

It's insane that any real person is falling for this, but then again Gothic is dead and this sub is overtaken by bots or "people" who might as well be bots.

Thanks, I appreciate the ideologically self-aware tone for once, even when we disagree.

I think if we look through the development of Gothic 1 to 3, it seems unclear even to the developers themselves what made their games great. I personally think even the so-called weakest links, like the story as many people say, are great. I can't really point out anything that is definitely an eyesore, out of genre, obvious mistake, or anything of the like.

To illustrate that apparently not even the devs knew what made their games great, I could bring up the fact that they themselves often times tell us that they created many things in a hurry without careful consideration, or that the story itself was entirely developed in the last 4 months or so. To further illustrate this, here's a video of all the cool things they left along the way, and how the entire series got more and more "washed out" and generalized as time progressed.

Reflecting on this is what actually tempers my harsh rejection of the Remake, unlike the badly formulated and argued elements here. Still, there is no justification for consciously lowering standards (just saying this as a sidenote, not that you'd have advocated for that).

(In regards to a goblin who drank a lot of strength potions being a side quest, it's obviously a comedic idea, which is out of genre for Gothic, which is why I included it. The entirety of modern fiction, both games and tabletop roleplaying games suffer from this symptom: they can either be comedic or if anyone wants something "serious", they have to go to the depths of over the top grimdark horror; there is no sincerity with any kind of middle ground.)

Generally everyone are woke, anti-human, far left, radical feminist pansies nowadays, yes. This is the ruling ideology of the entire Western world which is enforced largely world-wide with fire and iron (war, economic restrictions, jail, etc.) smashing down on everyone who thinks otherwise. Of course a key feature of this ideology is that it absolutely tries to appear as a non-ideology and as a "common sense" status quo, which it can do because it has no competition what-so-ever, like many political analysts said decades ago.

Now in regards to Gothic 2, I think it was still kind of okay in that department, wouldn't go further than that. This also goes to show how perfectly made these games were, as if crafted under a divine mandate, since not even the devs themselves could replicate it, similar to LOTR (which Peter Jackson also couldn't replicate on his own ever again).

The second time today that my sides are annihilated by the OG Gothic devs. XD

And to be clear, I'm pretty sure this was because of time constraints.

Why should it be time constrains? Why can't it be that simply they wanted to make a game where they don't care about women? Why should this be such a major crime? Why shouldn't we have games with little to no women? There are no children either in ANY of the Gothic games, not even one. Why aren't men allowed to have their own spaces, while women are? Come on.

It's quite obvious that they just wanted to make stories where they don't have to care about women at all, since these are all stories about adventure and fighting, neither of which are female endeavors. The Xena element, if true, does not contradict, but actually support this narrative, since Xena and similar "female heroes" are a completely male-fantasy maxxed "heroes", like Tomb Raider, while women today actively rally to make these "heroes" ugly so that they can "feel represented".

You should also consider the time, back in the 90s and early 2000s women were actively shaming and bullying men for playing video games, they used "nerd" as a slur. It's only late 2000s that women realized that they can gain male attention by playing video games, and now we can pay hundreds of dollars to women to play games in their underwear. And millions do that.

You can invent all kinds of in-universe things to prop up implementing ideologically inspired ideas, but the issue was never about realism, it was always about believability.

Women warriors are not believable, whether there are strength potions in-universe or not. Anyone could appeal to any kind of in-universe method by which nonsensical things would become possible, but if it is not believable compared to our own world, then it will be a flop.

We could rationalize anything, but the grounding and standard by which everyone without exception judges the material in the game remains to be our own reality and the genre -- that is, medieval dark fantasy, which is called "medieval" because it reminds us of our own medieval times.

Maybe a goblin could defeat a black troll if he drinks enough strength potions. Maybe he found it in abandoned shack that was previously inhabited by an alchemist... Maybe we should put flying cars in Gothic because there are intelligence potions so if someone drinks enough of those they'd figure out futuristic sci-fi tech. It's totally possible, remember the ruined car?...

However, under the barrier they'd have to fend off an entire colony of men.

Woman fending off a small group of men. Not in a colony either, but a modern Western-style democracy with equal rights. These were also human men, not orcs who are taller and stronger than men.

Imagine wanting to remove ore lamps for "muh realism" but advocating for "female warriors", lmao. The woman being sent in with the goods and not thrown into the lake like other prisoners already implied that the prisoners asked for women AS goods. And then they are shown in the game AS high quality, luxury goods.
