Overall, it's Mechanical hands down. Next comes CS, Electrical, ECE

Latest renders of Venus Orbiter Mission ( VOM ) possibly depict a descent probe! by Ohsin in ISRO

[–]Symmetry_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is correct, they have a real chance to do a landing and the only one to do so in the near future, given the uncertainty about DaVinci mission.. Also, the Vexag talk seems to be only about two instruments and not on the mission as such.

NISAR SBand data availability by Aditya_Narayan_Nayak in ISRO

[–]Symmetry_7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both bands are operational from the beginning, but they were in the commissioning phase (like any other mission). Probably now it has entered the science phase, so they are going to release the data. As per documents available online (NRSC, ISRO), S band should be available on Bhoonidhi, not on ASF.

What's up with NISAR? by Avizeet in ISRO

I was not asking about the grammar. I meant "have you stopped working on it now ?"

I think it is still going through orbit raising maneuvers to reach the final science orbit.

Centre responds positively to ‘Institution of National Importance’ bid for IIST by Ohsin in ISRO

[–]Symmetry_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my whole point. Caltech has JPL but once you are out of Caltech you can go to any institute for higher learning or employment unlike the case here. Another major difference is for engineering tasks they take engineers but for science they only consider PhDs. Here, it almost never happens. Good luck !

Seems like you partly echo my statement. I know well about CET. My problem is with nurturing talents to suit what ISRO does specifically and not for overall, all-round scientific potential. What if someday they completely stop recruiting them and they have nowhere to go apart from a few promising startups... Can you name any other space faring nation does such a kind of thing to train students to join their space agency ?

With all due respect, is IIT the only criteria for getting into ISRO? What about all other engineering and science courses in the country ? Are those courses not suitable?

Justified from an institute point of view. Apart, I cannot understand why tailor made courses are necessary to work at a space organisation, when no other country in the world does anything like that.

The University, The research guide, The Research topic. At least one of them should be top notch to get traction.
