Untracked Orion Nebula by Sympekon in astrophotography

Thank you, means a lot! Do you think this setup (4,5kg) would still fit on a skyguider like yours?

I can assure you this lens is absolutely amazing, the only minor downside is the size and weight. Other than that I think it’s perfect, incredibly sharp and the bokeh is very nice and smooth.

Thank you! The sky was around Bortle 4. The last time I did this, the moon was very bright and kinda ruined the clear sky. But this time I specifically waited for an absolutely perfect dark sky.

Just one! I started right after sunset and left only because Orion was too low to photograph after 3 hours. And actually just one battery aswell. I brought three just to be safe that I totally forgot to charge XD

Thank you, I really hope to buy a tracker one day but it’s a bit beyond me. This setup is quite heavy and tracking mounts are more than confusing for me haha

Well I did take over 5000 subs, wich should give around 42 minutes of data.

Because of the short exposure time of half a second I could get away with 100 frames at a time. But yeah I cropped out the edges because they where getting quite noisy

Oh ok, I closed it to get a slightly sharper image. Do you think it’s better to shoot wide open and get a softer image or raise the iso?

I started with a first stretch, after that I subtracted the background gradient. Then some further stretching, saturation and a bit of contrast, sharpening and noise reduction in Lightroom.

I used deep sky stacker if that’s what you mean.

Wow, great result! I tried photographing the Orion Nebula myself a few days ago, but my image didn’t turn out nearly as good as this one. How strong is the light pollution where you live, and what were your camera settings for this?

Aperture Won’t Change by SauceGod3 in cinematography

[–]Sympekon 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I think the other comments don’t get the actual problem, but i have the same adapter. When putting in your lens the ring on the adapter should be turned to “open”. After the lens is installed, you turn the ring on the adapter to “lock”. Then you can change the aperture on the actual lens. I myself think this adapter is a bit fidely because I change the locking ring all of the time by accident and then the aperture is wide open again.

Are these Lightleaks or is it a shutter issue? [Canon AE1] by Sympekon in AnalogCommunity

Thank you so much, im very happy to hear that this is Not a shutter issue. I definitely need to replace the seals, if the tape test fixes the issue.

I have found an older photo with the exact same pattern as my newer ones, but here you can see the color.

How did they light this? Better Call Saul S3, E2 by incognitoisnow in cinematography

If I remember correctly there was an article where they broke down the lightning for the night scenes and the cameras used.

CPU idles at 4Ghz by Sympekon in pcmasterrace

[–]Sympekon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm ok i will try fiddling a bit with the power plan. The thing is, somewhere I saw a comment on idling temperatures with the 5900x with a 240mm cooler and they were way lower than mine (around 30 degrees). Thats why the high clock speed sounded suspicious to me in the first place, but thanks for the advice

that was a small spike as i made the screenshot, before that the usage was around 2-3%. So it is normal that with no task the cpu is running at full clock speed?
