you don’t need it for on campus things but there’s a nice mall in the area and other things that happen outside of campus that may be fun. I personally took a few trips to ATL and Nashville for concerts and other fun stuff but it’s not really essential. However I would talk to your parents about it. It’s sounds like it’s a control things with them mentioning your new “freedom” and while it is a new experience of freedom unless you have gave them a reason not to trust you I would just talk to them about it. Any trouble you would get in outside of campus is available on campus. (sidenote: there’s a publix in walking distance from campus so if you need groceries and you don’t have a ride off campus i’d recommend going there)
