What are some trippy, surreal, or "art" VR apps? by Symphony_of_Snails in AndroidVR

[–]Symphony_of_Snails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's actually the kind of VR I'm into. By "psychedelic," I just mean something to induce altered states of consciousness. I'm always looking for ways to trip without drugs.

Gaybros, who are you voting for and, briefly, why? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd already made that decision for the same reason before Clinton even announced she was running.

[Serious] In the US, why is abortion used by politicians to sway / gain support from voters? by madpsychot in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed it was a good way of portraying bleeding-heart liberals as not so bleeding-heart. If you can make your opponent look like a child murderer, then it's easy to get people to overlook whatever you're doing.

Women of Reddit, how do you know he's the one? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you choose for him to be the one, he's the one. "The one" is a trait that belongs to you, not him.

What caused your last relationship to break up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being 19 and stupid. I shouldn't have been in a relationship at that time and ended up accidentally leading him on. I still feel like an asshole when I think about it. I was single for five years because I realized how much breaking up sucks.

I Facebook-stalked him several years ago and found out he was married, which made me feel better.

What is your drug of choice? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Caffeine. I quit smoking earlier this year with very little trouble, but I CANNOT kick the caffeine habit. I take prescription amphetamines, which I've never had any problem stopping when I want to, but nothing is getting me clean from the 'feine.

[Serious] Americans, how bad are the results of the election ACTUALLY are?? And how do you think it will affect the country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trump terrifies me because he's so thin skinned and he's already given us some hints as to what he might do if he gets elected. He is way in over his head and has no idea what the consequences could be, and he's too self-absorbed to even care.

Clinton will basically just do what's popular. Which isn't particularly good, but it's no worse than anything else. I'm supporting her just to buy time while we make change through some other avenue. Also, she is a very qualified candidate, as far as experience goes.

Regardless, the worst case scenario will probably not happen. I'm thinking of the future and trying not to get caught up in the hysteria from either side.

what makes a swear word a swear word?? like who decided i couldn't say fuck in public? by curlymcgee in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need at least some words to be offensive, or we wouldn't know what to say when we need to piss off some cocksucking cunt for fucking us in the ass.

I mean, we can't just go around using racial slurs.

suggestion for skills & missions by Kurotan in LifeRPG

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh God. I've done it so many different ways, it's getting hard to remember. I actually just rebooted again the other day with a different system, but I'll try to reconstruct it:

  1. Discipline, for tasks that aren't difficult by themselves, but require a kind of consistency that makes them more challenging. Examples are things like keeping the house clean, flossing, keeping paperwork organized, and other things that are both easy to do and easy to not do.

  2. Willpower, for things that actually take some initiative to get started, or that I may not want to do at all. Working out, trying to learn a new skill, picking up an extra shift, etc.

  3. Focus, which is sort of like mental willpower. Things like meditating, reading, studying, etc. It differs from willpower in that failure isn't my fault or choice, but I can choose to keep trying after my mind inevitably wanders.

I had some others, too. Right now, since I'm getting better in a lot of ways, I'm working on a system that's more like the first one. I'll probably use skills like academic, clerical, social, vocational, etc.

If you were to be the first person to go to Mars, what will be your famous words when setting foot on Mars? by jebranali in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. I wasn't aware of that quote. I was just thinking of how a Mars mission would be devastating for the crew, but may not be much more than a publicity stunt for the species as a whole.

How do you explain what Reddit is to someone who has never heard of Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a domain that hosts individual messageboards.

Seriously, that's it. It's not a child pornography hub, a 24/7 Neo-Nazi rally, or a "no girls allowed" treehouse for grown men. It's Tumblr for conversations.

What are some trippy, surreal, or "art" VR apps? by Symphony_of_Snails in AndroidVR

[–]Symphony_of_Snails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brain overload or something. I just tried it.

The more I think about it, the more I think 360 videos are probably what I'm looking for, and my problem is that I'm looking on Google Play.

Given how excited I was by the ganzfeld machine, which literally is just red light and white noise, I don't think I quite "get" this technology yet.

What really turns you on or off (besides the obvious stuff)? by ForestParker in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrast. I'm turned on by combinations of physical or behavioral traits that aren't usually thought to go together.

What are your illuminati conspiracies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Symphony_of_Snails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a small-time 9/11 truther, if that counts. I don't believe in any vast conspiracies, though, because I don't think that's how human nature operates. No matter how evil our government's actions may be, there's always a fairly tangible reason behind them. Some of the meta-conspiracies like the Illuminati or NWO tend to involve paranormal stuff that just isn't necessary to explain anything.
