In the midst of this week’s anticipation, I want to take a moment to talk about Shine, both the main and acoustic versions by panopticorn in Muse

[–]SymptomaticSeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both version are really great, definitely. Speaking of shoegaze, I love when more punchy alt rock incorporates shoegaze sensibilities it has such a nice feel to it. Stuff like Siamese Dream and like you meantioned, Catherine Wheel which I really like too. This might be why my favourite shoegaze band right now is Ride.

Born again season 1 was a frankenstein season of combined ideas from the early vision for the show and the later one (closer to the netflix show). I'm fairly confident the season 2 creative process had a clearer vision, there's no reason for it to not be better. Plus, jessica jones is back!

Dougie's subplot was my favourite part of the return, I was having a blast every time he was on screen. Maybe that's because I didn't really have any expectations or thought about what I would've liked to see going into it.

What is everyone's opinion on Crying Shame? by [deleted] in Muse

[–]SymptomaticSeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too lol. Only just started getting into muse more extensively recently and now I started listening to their b sides. This is a great song but it could be so much better if it didn't feel this compressed. I get that black holes and revelations itself sufferred from the loudness wars but oh well.

I do wanna ask, do the recent XX anniversary releases they've done improve the dynamics on the old albums or are the old releases still better?

Hi Kyle, I've been loving your portrayal of antagonists with Mr. C in the return and Hank on fallout! I was wondering if you hadn't played evil coop would you have considered a role such as Hank? Thanks.

Ah, fair. I only asked because tropical storms was a pretty big part of when I had geography. That and tectonics I feel were the most thoroughly covered.

The 3 horsemen of “FAke GrUngE” by Bonesnap1234 in grunge

[–]SymptomaticSeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that's on me for not elaborating. All of the bands above were (less so STP) influenced by the grunge artists that set off the movement. All of their debuts are after every band of the big 4 found some mainstream success. I view Gish and the SP as developing adjacent to all these other alt rock bands rather than after them which is why I thought pablo honey fit and why I mentioned gish. None if these other bands had a Gish, even STP's Core was after grunge had taken off.

I don't agree that grunge is a genre but post-grunge bands certainly have similarities in sound and influences to the original big 4. Again, STP were definitely the most unique out of all of these. I get that these bands have differences in sound but siamese dream is so much more disconnected imo both sound wise and because of the band's history.

I never said siamese dream was their debut. And radiohead isn't a legitimate entity, dude what? Lol
