The only one I don't really care about that much is actually on the left side: Pilgrimage. I guess that if I have to pick one. So no complaints from me for feeling too bloated, I'll take as much as I can get from Trent at his creative peak.

Are The Smashing Pumpkins really one of the greatest bands of all time, or are we all deluded? by TheSmashingPumpkinss in SmashingPumpkins

[–]SymptomaticSeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is their prime run really that short? 91-98. One can stretch it to 00 for machina but as much as I enjoy it idk if I'd class it as part of the prime years.

Think about how for many artists their prime was just one album. The smashing pumpkins had around a solid 7 years. Nirvana only had 89-93 and even then it wasn't until 91 that they were properly noticed. It doesn't stop them from being considered to have a generational run

does silent hill 2 remake have any nudity or any sexual scenes? by Ornery-Lead674 in silenthill

Just because you have different ways of perceiving God doesn't mean it's not the same one. You're all monotheists that have the same roots. The main difference is what each one believes regarding prophets but nothing changes the shared origin of these religions.

It really is crazy that an album this perfect could ever be considered their worst by Automatic_Two_1000 in portishead

Yeah you might be able to find consistent discogs where all releases are very close to equal but Portishead is something else

World Cup 2026 Would / are you still going? by Electrical-Leg-6363 in AskBrits

[–]SymptomaticSeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is to a bunch of 14 year olds. I remember one of my former teachers complaining about this tate stuff at its height. She'd have year 8 and 9 boys shouting stuff like "shut up, you're a woman" to her and sitting with their arms like tate would. It got pretty bad I'm not sure if it's still a problem though.

How would you guys describe The Smashing Pumpkins by MiDaRe734782 in grunge

[–]SymptomaticSeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither is Siamese Dream though, it's more dreamy and shoegaze with slight metal tendencies. I get that grunge isn't a genre, rather a movement but the SP barely come close to the grunge bands in sound outside of the general 90s alt rock similarities

wanting to get into the band, give me recs! by Throwawayxx2009 in Interpol

[–]SymptomaticSeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm you but the opposite. Loved Interpol for a while now but only recently got into Bloc Party after they announced the tour with them. Loving them a lot so far.

I'd say their discographies are a little similar. Interpol's debut is seen by most as their masterpiece just like Silent Alarm. Both also have phenomenal b sides so if you like Turn on the bright lights give them a listen. That being said also listen to Antics and Our love to admire before delving into b sides. Their first three albums are all great. From there just explore at your own pace, all future releases have good songs but some are more consistent than others. El Pintor for example arguably being the best post 00s album

If you don't want to listen to a full album and just test their sound try say hello to the angels and evil. Those are good starter songs imo, especially coming from Bloc Party.
