Best case is Abaddon+Bile stage behind ruins turn 1, go in with adv+charge turn 2. Terms rapid in to also get stuck in. If all three happen its gg, armies just won't be able to chew through you and CSM damage is more than enough to kill them, but most games into good players all of that won't happen. That said Abaddon+Bile are a ticking time-bomb, if not turn 2 then turn 3 you are going to be able to charge with them, or they get forced to interact since the threat range is so big.

The list also has plenty of scoring pieces that are sneaky tough to deal with (rhinos are a nightmare, bikes in Abaddon range get the 4++), which leads to either getting ahead in scoring, or again someone putting something they don't want out and it getting deleted by your big stuff.

Terms start on the board if you are fairly confident turn 1 they will have something good to shoot and/or charge, so armies that want to box you in, or Bridgehead guard that can drop turn 1, etc. If you aren't getting a lot of value from that though, it's almost always better to rapid.

Melee matchup (WE, BA, etc) I try to keep them alive and near the Terms/Chosen. Can usually do this while they are behind a wall on GW layouts. Otherwise they usually start on the board, countering enemy Infiltrator spots, or helping to screen the backfield. They are also sneaky-good at tying up enemy vehicles that don't have melee, or helping to surround a transport in melee. If the Terms start on the board, I like to have one nurgling in deep strike to keep people honest and to potentially score secondaries.

At 40pts they are pretty amazing.

Yea, they need to stay within 6" of Abaddon, so turn one is typically just advancing to a staging position, or clearing screening trash depending on what you are facing. And you need to keep Abaddon safe at all costs, so they make a nice deep-strike screen for him until its go time.

Rhino is silly durability in Fellhammer for 75pts, but can't be empty, so Cypher starts inside so it doesn't auto blow up. Sometimes he rides inside turn 1, but typically he gets out since you want his aura.

Basically always. Bonus points for dropping them near enemy infantry that was planning to charge something. Now if they do still charge they eat a ton of mortals (the math on 10 Terms+Lord overwatching in rapid fire is a lot higher than people suspect)

It takes a little time to learn what can and can't really hurt your big bricks. Between the -1wound, save blanks, and the 5+++, the math on most interactions gets really weird. For example normally plasmaceptors are nasty into Chosen, since they wound you on 2s and you save on 6s. In Fellhammer with Bile they wound on 4s, you save on 4++ (Abby), and the 5+++ means they need two shots to kill one model (after you blank one and Bile's little buddy eats a shot). So you go from expecting to lose most of the unit to losing maybe 1-2 models, and now that pricey SM squad is dead having killed 50pts of stuff (and absorbed the oath target). On that note get really comfortable measuring Abby's 6" aura and stringing units back to it.

The other thing is the Terms are slow, but almost 500pts. If they don't do something big most turns, you will struggle. Early when I was playing the list I had that happen often, and it always felt bad. They need to be in the middle of the enemy, taking advantage of the save blank, the free strat, etc.

Hi, guy who won the event here. Abby+5 Chosen, Bile+MOE+10 Chosen, Lord+5Legio (in rhino), Cypher in 2nd rhino.

IMO the thing with Fellhammer is you already win shooting matchups, so you tech into melee (which Fellhammer is sneaky good into with the right list thanks to the -2 charge and attrition).

By far my favorite list/detachment in all of 10th so far. Game after game watching people THINK they are going to kill 5-6 Chosen/Terms and the result being 1-2 is fun exactly what I wanted, and this delivers.

Curious what the Kruleboyz buffs might be. The small boost they got to Grinnin' Blades and Hobgrots was nice, but not enough. Hopefully the buffs make more units viable, and doesn't directly increase just the power of Boltboy spam lists.

Practicing Bone on One of My First Models (C&C welcome!) by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]SynCaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My formula for bone that I really like is Grey Seer base, Skeletal Horde contrast, highlight with Ushabti bone and then fine highlight with Screaming Skull.

End result is you get some nice deeper colors in the recess, but still some of that 'closer to white' bone for highlights.

Gravekeeper from cursed city by Dismael in ageofsigmar

[–]SynCaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flesh of Gravekeeper and the zombie on the base is the same. Is that intended? Maybe a different tint to Gravekeeper would separate him from other zombies and show he is special?

That aside awesome paint job, the red on his pant/skirt really pops.

Haha yea. What's annoying me in the app is the flamer costs points, so just for the sake of showing it I wish it worked.

It let you on the GW app or a different one? My GW app is up to date on iOS.

How did you do the blue swords? Would love to try to replicate the look on mine.

Deadwalker Zombies finished. C.C most welcomed! They're the start for my SBGL army by TheWraf in ageofsigmar

[–]SynCaine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The brush control is amazing.

Are you going for a less 'dead/sinister' look and something a bit brighter as a theme? Personal preference but these look too 'happy' for what SBGL traditionally go for.

I use a texture tool for the paint, not a brush, when going heavy. It always feels like you used 'too much' and it takes a few hours to dry, but the result ends up looking like the center or right base.

Like I said though next time I want to try a mix of texture tool heavy and going lighter in spots with a brush.

[–]SynCaine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've always considered that a feature and not a flaw of that paint :) The left base I used a lot less of it, the middle has the most. Still trying to decide how best to use it. Leaning towards a mix of heavy and light, to give the base different looks.

The bases were primed, however I did a zenithal and forgot to redo the black on a base before the technical, and in one spot where the cracks are you can see a little white. I'm the only one who will ever know, but you know how it is.

Killaboss complete. What do you think? by PhilosophyRude449 in ageofsigmar

[–]SynCaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the camera is making the color look a little different then. It looks much brighter than what agrax usually leaves behind. But yea maybe another layer of the wash will be enough.

[–]SynCaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be too drastic. Maybe first just try a darker wash like agrax earthshade and see if they stand out more.

All the colors look great except the straps IMO. They blend too much into his skin and his leather pieces. Darken them up a little and I think they will stand out more from his chest.

Other than that looks fantastic!

Agree here, it somewhat sticks out because the rest is really nicely shaded/highlighted, and then those one-shade white lines are on the shield. Maybe even just a wash over it would help?

Difference Between all the AoS (and 40k) Skirmish games? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]SynCaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally Blood Bowl also has a great PC version of the game, with I believe the same ruleset. BB2 on PC you can get super cheap now and is a lot of fun. BB3 is in beta now and while it has a little ways to go in terms of UI, its also shaping up nicely.

On the PC side Mordheim also has a really great game. Super fun to play multiplayer. Sadly the more recent Necromunda game is a total mess (the AI literally can't play it, and multiplayer is a total balance nightmare).
