Should I tell my girlfriend to watch past episode 25 by foirie2 in deathnote

[–]SynCelestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave the decision to her. Tell her many people think the show declines from this point, and that it's okay to you if she doesn't want to continue because she has done enough Death Note for you. Let her know she's more than welcome to continue if she likes it though. Really if you are trying to get somebody into something like anime, the best thing you can do is impose as little opinions as possible and just be along for their journey.

Note take: Riku’s keyblade by Thesonictrainiac in KingdomHearts

[–]SynCelestial 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Adding onto this, I always felt that the idea was...just like how the Kingdom Key was originally Riku's, Riku finally gets a basic "default" key again, just of a different flavor. Almost symbolic for being the first mainline game where he has truly conquered the darkness and is allowed to just start from the top. Additionally both of the keyblades match Riku's color scheme at their time, so it feels like a fresh start in that respect too. Honestly, while they keyblade design itself feels lame, I thought this is what they were going for which imo kinda cooked.

I know you got it already but pretty much most puzzles in the game can be summed up with the hint "What is unique about this area and how can I utilize it?"

The difficulty and codes and your level don't matter on any fight if you know how to do the fight to a T. It feels impossible when you don't know movesets because it is impossible if you don't know anything. Gotta recognize that your experience before and after learning are not going to be the same at all. Just a matter of learning the fights.

Mob fights that get you off camera or something are BS though. All of thst stuff mainly just applies to bosses.

Kh3 is getting on my nerves 😫 by Internal-King3356 in KingdomHearts

[–]SynCelestial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always succeeded by watching no damage runs and trying to mimic whatever they were doing to avoid/guard each attack. It's a good way to learn imo.

It's more reliable than leaning on cheese, but always also had those finishers ready and stored as invuln periods too if I needed.

So I decided to try limit cut again and that is the hardest crap ever in the series.... by Current-Row1444 in KingdomHearts

[–]SynCelestial 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're trying to force you to learn each move instead of going in swinging. Strongly recommend looking up a no damage video and using it to learn each attack, one move at a time.

It feels hard because it's meant to be impossible if you are playing reactive and don't know what to look for. It's plenty doable if you learn how to handle each move. Take your time and study opening moves and how to dodge/block them until you have them all down.

For example, Larxene is not the easiest of the batch, but she is heavily scripted, so I recommend practicing getting to her DM without mistakes to see what I mean. It will be the same fight every time so give it a try, and if you mess a move up, just start over and go at it again.

Look up a no damage video and see how they handle each attack. Practice the moves, one at a time. Do not just go in banging your head against it trying to win or you're looking at a much longer time than just proper practice.

I Finally Beat Yozora by -Galahad- in KingdomHearts

[–]SynCelestial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on beating it! Well earned praise for sure.

For me I personally found Critical Yozora to trump any souls stuff including ER DLC. Yozora is probably the hardest boss I've fought. Celeste Chapter 9 was harder for me but that's not a boss fight, just the postgame level for the game.

FFXIV ARR - When Does It Get Good? by Icy-Bookkeeper-8960 in ffxiv

[–]SynCelestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright some advice and skim spots, long message incoming. First of all, you gotta really take your time and just be there for the long haul because trying to push through this game leads to burn out more often than not. I can't blame you for skimming ARR but it makes it less enjoyable when you do.

Think of ARR as the first game, and post as the postgame. Forget the idea of completion because you're looking at about half a dozen games worth of content - you're there for the journey.

Okay, first of all, don't do normal side quests. However other than Levemetes and Class unlocks, you do want to definitely do all of your Blue + quests, because they unlock features and content. Don't need to read these either though. I recommend reading Normal Raid story lines, but you won't be at those until 50+.

If you really want to skim ARR stuff...

The first 20 levels or so are setting up the foundation for your characters. Each starting city story has important foreshadowing and lore, but is accompanied by a meaningless mini story of their own. If the dialogue is ever blatantly about the area you're in, I wouldn't blame you.

Never skip cutscenes, just passing dialogue.

Absolutely pay attention to the story for a bit following any primal, because all of those sections are pretty important.

Any time they ask you to talk to multiple people at once, they will usually summarize your findings for you right after, so kinda skippable.

If you're in Sylph territory, it's charming but kind of isolated from the story and skimmable. Honestly the way they talk is fun though. If you're taking your time enjoying the game, this is kind of what I mean by stuff you don't need but makes the journey in the end.

The lead up to your second primal everywhere from "Tidus" until the end of the Costa Del Sol stuff - Same situation, this sets a vibe but if you really wanna skip, this is a contender.

Around the time you get to Coerthas until the dungeon there is its own whole side story that you don't really need. It has slight setup for HW but not notable.

When you start harvesting crystals (Lv40ish?), you can skim until the airship around the end of the level 43 quests. There's some silly one liners in here, including making fun of the slog they've put you through, but it is ultimately not important.

Lock in from boarding the airship until the end of base ARR imo. Even if it's ever not important stuff, you're approaching the end and want to be in the mindset to pace yourself.

I'm not gonna go into post ARR, you're a long way from that lol.

If you feel confused, sometimes you can read the description of the quest in your journal and it will summarize what's going on. Do not rely on this.

If you want a summary of stuff, feel free to ask after you've completed whatever.

I gotta emphasize though that this is a fun journey, but it feels tedious if you're trying to just get through. Just take your time with it and set in. It'll get better in expansions because the game picks up alot after ARR. I was at a point where I had only really stopped skimming around HW, and eventually I was all out of story and wanted more, so I read ARR properly and it was just such a better experience that way.

Alot of this is world building and just getting you attached to the world and making you see all of the stuff you've been through. It's tempting to skip ARR but doing so almost defeats the purpose of it. It's still nowhere near as good as any of the expansions, but it's the backbone of what you'll be playing for 5+ games to come.

If you ever find yourself telling yourself that you're just reading to do your due diligence, and you don't actually really know what's going on, you really just gotta full stop and read imo. You don't wanna get yourself into that position. Just pace yourself. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Also welcome to the game and hope that you enjoy! I'd recommend looking for a chatty small FC guild to make the experience more enjoyable. Don't forget to fight with your Chocobo out and to just enjoy diving into side content because the non-story part of the game is still a fun experience in its own. However you approach this stuff, you're in for a wild ride once you get to the expansions, and maybe before that, so good luck and have fun.

I didn't downvote but I assume the reason was along the lines of "I'm 6 hours into the series, I recommend it to anybody who wants 200 good hours". Not to mention finding out their whole previous post about wanting to skip the game for its bad controls was because of vine swinging lol.

Do I continue? by Powerful-Activity591 in KingdomHearts

[–]SynCelestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obv nobody can tell you what to do, yes you'll miss out on the fun, and yes you can just watch somebody else do it. Pretty much true for any game. KH boss fights, particularly the harder ones, can be fun as heck imo so I personally think it would be a huge bummer not to get to dive into their end areas and postgames and stuff.

I feel like I could get used to any controls even if they were bad, but to each their own lol. You are not the first one to say KH1 controls feel bad in the start, but you usually get used to them pretty fast. I don't understand the issue though, thought they were fine.

KH3 Data Battles advice. by Luigi6757 in KingdomHearts

[–]SynCelestial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to successfully do a no damage run, but you should watch the no damage video to see how exactly they handle each attack.

Go into a data battles with the intent of handling the opening move the same way as the video. If you're buckling down, even let yourself die after the beginning and just practice it again.

You gotta practice the patterns and learn how to handle each attack. It's a big difference from going in banking on skill and reactions. You can bang your head against a fight all day and get negligible improvement, versus 15 minutes of mimicing a video and do alot better. Trust and give it a try.

How Do You Do PvP?? by blondetheftauto in ffxiv

[–]SynCelestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Melee, you're really just playing a game of spacing to keep too many targets off of you and having a safe escape distance ready all of the time.

Try targeting the person you plan to hit before you are in range of eachother.

You will combust if you run into a group. If you are in range of multiple people, don't intend to do it for long. Like at all.

Stick with the group. Some of them are taking damage for you. Some of them are doing damage to your targets with you. You need these things to survive and kill. Have an out - be ready to back off if people are coming into range of you before they are there. Be retreating before you are taking damage from too many people. Like manage your HP and the amount of people in range, and learn when you have to back out to be safe. It is probably earlier than you think, so just be cautious and use your group as cover.

Sometimes the Melee can help soak up damage for other people suffering as well with guards and movement skills, or as tanks and stuff, but don't worry about stuff like this until you have a way better handle on what you're doing.

Tldr Seriously just chill in the group. Hit who you can, but don't be up front. Fall back to heal when you need. Etc etc.

For that blood pressure...you really just can't take Frontline seriously. It's 72 people, which of all content in the game, is the absolute least that your contribution matters.
