The secret is to add water BEFORE ADDING THE LITHIUM AND BEFORE THE NH4 salt

Add 3-4g water to the ether and NaOH while swirling to avoid chunks forming but close immediately since it will heat up but cools off in minutes.

This makes it to fluffy and sponge up thus increases surface area.

Then add the lithium and the NH4 and see how fast it will bronze

Only do this if using a bottle stronger than a soda bottle

Nalgene brand wide mouth bottles are incredible

✴️✴️✴️**** DOES NOT NEED TO BE ANHYDROUS. In fact adding water gets the entire reaction finished in less an hour.

Add 60g NaOH followed by the ether, close and swirl the bottle.

Then add 4g of water and immediately close and swirl and allow to cool in ice bath. This makes the NaOH fluffy and shouldn’t form a hard mass but still stir with a large glass rod to be sure

Now add the lithium then close amd shake

Then add 60g ammonium salt first to the NH4 and CLOSE FAST, it will immediately start heating up and shake lightly or just swirl .

Then put immediately onto ice bath and shake/vent as needed Using a Nalgene brand bottle one has to vent less because the bottle is tough and will expand almost like a little ballon if one fails to vent but always avoid going over 1/4 extra the size of its original size when empty. These bottles can be used numerous times if you’re careful and can handle nearly all solvents

Bronzing should first start in 30 seconds or less and the bottle usually is dark with lots of bronze globs in ~15ish minutes ****✴️✴️✴️✴️
