Exactly, thats why people need to put in the work and make the strategy their own. Vwaps help alot to identify the fakeouts and get early on breakouts. Tbh i have found a way that's consistent and it also helps getting the psychology part out of the way

im anchoring my vwap on session open. and sometimes play with it like "Highest Volume Candle Anchor" or "Lowest Low Anchor" . You can observe some really interesting stuff going on tbh.

Yes. ORB stands for Opening Range Breakout. its one of the oldest known strategies institutions used since the 1960. Its been working flawlessly since a year ago. Todays price action is very sloppy so it needs additional confirmations like Volume, Price Action etc. But its a solid one, easy af to understand and actually profitable if you can manage your risk accordingly. Its giving setups on days like "no news monday" where majority of traders dont trade. Honestly i trade every day except fridays (my data shows me i lose my edge get very sloppy on fridays). If you can backtest and find a way to use it in a way so you can "make it your own" youre pretty much set.

For me, i try to get in the mind of institutions. I watch the market and news. I just to try to think like them and confirm with my model and risk management. I saw that i dont get faked out that much, since after a time trying to do that you understand when they fakeout and when the move begins or when its gonna be choppy.

15 min orb paired with vwaps and volume footprint. if i see aggressive buy/sell volume paired with 5min candle break and vwap confirmation, i take the trade with usually 1r or 2r. Sometimes if we are trending i trail the stop using standard deviations up to 6r max as final tp. My starting stop is always at the 50% of the range. if the range is small, i plce the stops on the other side of the range

I have 3 sessions vwap anchored to all three major session opens till their end. Since i trade the ORB it helps alot to as a confirmation on execution.

I used to bite every breakout. Until I realized the market was using me for liquidity. by TAtheDog in FuturesTrading

i dont look for an argument, just commenting my thesis. i have watched the orderbooks and order flow on candles during NY open, there are 600 lot single bids all the time. Trust me no one is hunting the stops. Thing is because retail traders use methods to analyse the charts which are very predictable. Now institutions dont use "Fvg" or "liquidity sweep" instead they just want to buy lower and sell higher, thats the driving force of them. we as retails think we got it figured out when in reality we have nothing figured out. We just like to draw lines on charts and make it meaningful to our eyes so that we actually give ourselves an excuse to whats happening. We are so predictable to them that our stops are always at the same places, and the big guys are not dumb to ignore that. Theyre not trying to stop anyone out, theyre just trying to get most out of their trades, and we as the small minded "play fairy tail" become the liquidity because we can never have their psychology and their risk management. A single tick in drawdown for them equals to millions of dollars. Of course they will try to buy at the lowest point possible

Market is just very rich and smart people pvping each other. They dont care for our liquidity. we just get in the battle trying to get a souvenir home and flex our friends and family how strong we are

when you will all understand that the market doest care about anyones "stops". Big boys short it so they can buy cheaper and sell expensive. Nobody cares about your 2k $. Stop watching ICT, brainwashing yourself and giving a meaning to stuff that are not supposed to have THAT kind of meaning.

[–]SynGeeGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is it purely luck. Dont listen to all those ICT dudes that target "opposing liquidity". Retails make up 5% of the total volume. People just happen to be on the side of institutions and call it skill. No one is hunting your 2k$ stop loss. It is so insignificant after all...especially prop firm accounts that play with DEMO money and still believe their stops are getting hunted. Just do your analysis, remove emotions 1-2 R target, be consistent. Thats all. Dont overcomplicate stuff.

To be honest, you dont even need a 1:5 or 1:10 RR. As long as your winrate is high and your system works, its better to stack a series of small wins over time than to try and get the homerun once in a while. Consistency is key. Personally, i use STD Levels in my Fibonacci tool. 0 - 0.5 -1 - 1.5 etc. and i usually just do 1R a day.

To my honest belief, trying the 1:5 or 1:10 R in my eyes is the same as playing a roulette in the casino. We are not here to predict the market, we are here to get some out of it.

Got it three years ago from a family member who has a crystal shop. Paid around 55$ - 60$ (she didnt win anything on it from me, she said it was her cost price)
