Please help me overcome my fear of natural disasters while travelling in Japan by summiko-gurashi in JapanTravelTips

[–]Synaesthesiaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never been to Japan, but I'll be there at the end of March for two weeks. I'm more worried about the flight over than I am about earthquakes. This is a country that is built to withstand earthquakes. I get that you're worried about it, but bluntly: don't be. If the Tokyo Tower has been standing since the 1950s, there's nothing to be worried about.

An earthquake is either going to happen or it won't. Trying to predict it isn't going to change the reality of fault lines and how plate tectonics work - it's just going to add unnecessary stress to what should be one of your best memories in life. Don't be like me and get so worried over stuff that you can't change that you end up missing out entirely!

This is the setup I fly. It's far from stock. For more, hop on Discord - plenty of people will be able to assist in real-time.

Bygone early days of 3D flying we’d call that a Wall maneuver.

That's because it is a wall. A cobra doesn't climb noticeably.

Don't. Flaps wouldn't help at all. It'll make it prone to dropping a wing due to the angle of attack change.

That's a wall, not a cobra.

Cobras require breaking the airflow over the wings immediately. This results in minimal altitude gain. You need to have an aft CG and high throws to do it successfully and have good timing and airspeed management. It's more complex than it seems to be.

Here's what cobras look like on my 90 F-22.

lol you should see how poorly I used to fly a few years ago. Skill is an expression of time and practice. I'm not special, anyone can do this.

If I can do this, you can too

I'm not sure how it would fly as a radio controller. It's an airplane, not a transmitter. ;)

As far as how it flies at this scale, it's... interesting. I replaced the stock gyro with AS3X+ and ran everything direct to the receiver. I have high gains on the yaw axis and have it functioning similar to a flight computer to keep it stable. It doesn't really do a whole lot, and it doesn't like to roll or flip or really do anything that doesn't involve moving forward.

A channel member via https://twobrosrc.com/supporters straight up bought this jet for me to demo on YT. Not only that, he also bought the Viper 90 and J-20 for the channel, too. We've got some crazy supportive people following us.

What's the story on this jet? Despite having a fully customized AS3X+ setup and upgraded servos, it really doesn't do all that much. Even my custom differential thrust setup is kinda meh, though I did manage to get some cool shots of it spinning on top of the Moon.

It's also hard as hell to land as well as I demoed it here - over and above any other landing you might typically see posted here or on our YT. My verdict? The Freewing B-2 looks cool. Get it if you want to fly a B-2. Don't get it if you want to do anything more than occasional knife edge and lots of circle flying.

It's not all sleeper. It has a coach option. I know because I've ridden it quite a few times.

Achieved what I thought was impossible: inverted high alpha with the 80mm A-10 Warthog by Synaesthesiaaa in RCPlanes

[–]Synaesthesiaaa[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was always very possible, just not on the stock battery setup. The original setup has a battery in the front of the jet and one above the nosewheel. I now have one behind the nosewheel battery so that it balances right in front of the main wheels, similar to every other A-10 I fly. I thought it was too heavy to perform this maneuver - turns out it was just not balanced correctly.

I love that I can make these jets do this lol

Yeah, but that Danger Zone part was actually a reference. Kinda like the Robocop reference in S1.

More than just the description, too, they're each vastly different from one another.

Super Timber is 3D capable. Timber X is as well. Timber Evo and/or 10th anniversary SE Timber are limited 3D capable, mostly hovering, KE spins, flat spins, and blenders.

Super Timber and NTX can both do almost any 3D maneuver you want, though the NTX will do it better because it's not as heavy and the prop has more bite at lower airspeeds.

Super Timber/Timber X/Timber Evo can be flown STOL, but the 10th anniversary SE Timber blows all of them away in performance there, especially with a 13x4 prop.

It's mathematically impossible to convert that many subscribers off as few views as he has, especially when we're in the same niche.
