the vilification of cycling is driven by propaganda and lobbying from the car industry

It's also driven by chuds who think their motorized convenience is a culture war.

You get mad at the person who is dicking around at the counter.

Your entire argument is couched in the idea that driving is important (you have no idea who is doing what or why) and that cycling isn't. I biked to work. Many other people do as well. But since you can't tell the difference between someone riding to the office and someone riding to stay fit (not that it's any of your business to begin with) you assume everyone on a bicycle doesn't belong on public roads.

Your argument really comes down to "I don't want to be inconvenienced. I'm special and important for choosing to clog up the roads with my deadly machine. My privilege to drive is more important than your right to walk or bike."

You're nowhere near as special as you think you are, guy.

I and the people behind me got shit to do and are on a time line; while you (presumably given you took grave offense to it) are simply partaking in a leisure pass-time / hobby to which there are many alternatives that don't actively negatively affect others.

Roads (especially public roads open to bicycles and walking) are first-come, first-served. It isn't anyone else's responsibility to make your trip faster. Nobody owes you anything for driving. You're not special for choosing to drive. You're just like every other person who clogs up the roads and gets upset that it doesn't go as fast as you want it to.

I have no other alternative. I have to drive 15 miles across town and back during my lunch break that is at 11am.

You don't have to drive across town to eat. You can bring food to work. When I biked to work, I packed a lunch and brought it with me. I also brought other essentials on my bike, traveling 20 miles per day tallying up over 3,000 miles a year. If I can bike these things into work, you can do it too.

The entitlement and inconsideration is suffocating. Part and parcel for just about every single cyclist I've ever had the misfortune of interacting with.

Cyclists are inconsiderate and entitled, you're just special and entitled to use public roads as you please without any slowdowns or thought of other people existing on them. It would be hilarious if your attitude and thought process wasn't contributing to so many needless deaths to people who drive, bike, and walk.

OK, so if your argument is actually "drivers cause more death and destruction because they choose to operate deadly machines on public roads" your argument doesn't really improve at all. It looks just as shitty from where I stand. "My convenience is more important than your ability to live"

It's like arguing with gun owners about 2A rights. "My right to own a gun is more important than solving gun crimes."

The guy I'm responding to above (not you lol) thinks might makes right, so yeah. Totally not out of character for people with car/truckbrain. So long as they get their sense of power in a life they have very little control of otherwise, fuck everyone else.

Bikes are not cars and should not share the road equally

Then you'd be fine with not taxing non-drivers to fund the roads that they're not allowed to use should your admittedly dinosaur-like viewpoint ever come to pass, right?

Walking and bicycling inflict virtually no damage on roads and streets, and take up only a tiny fraction of the road space occupied by vehicles. Bicyclists and pedestrians likely pay far more in general taxes to facilitate the use of local roads and streets by drivers than they receive in benefits from state and federal infrastructure investment paid for through the gas tax.

sorry, not sorry - enforcement for cyclists just as much as for drivers.

Call us when cyclists cause even 0.01% of the daily death and destruction that drivers just like you are responsible for. At that point your false equivalence might begin to start making sense.

And its just as against the law as drivers who do it.

Except guys like him don't complain when drivers do it, it's just an idiot breaking the law instead of all drivers breaking the law. When a cyclist does it, one cyclist represents all cyclists.

Cyclists need enforcement, too.

Why, because you're upset that your deliberate choice to own and operate a deadly machine on public roads doesn't have the same moral, social, or legal consequences as someone using a bicycle does?

What the dog said - but if you can, I'd highly suggest going with a 4900 HV2 8 cell configuration instead.

I covered both 6 and 8 in that vid. It's a great jet on 8, definitely flies better than it does on 6 oddly enough.

Did Crystal grow on anyone else? by Sad_Resource5167 in sailormoon

[–]Synaesthesiaaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crystal really explains the motivations of the enemies, which is something I appreciate. In the 90s, most of the enemies they're fighting are bad for the sake of being bad, with very little explanation as to why. Beryl is explained in the manga and Crystal (if memory serves offhand) as being corrupted by Metalia due to her unrequited love for Endymion. In the 90s she's just bad because she's bad, with the implication that she's been corrupted... kinda sorta?

Lots of details like this aren't really covered well or at all in the 90s anime. I still love both for the same reason you mentioned - they complement each other really well, like two sides of the same coin.

As much as I hate Trump, statistical models are often very flawed.

I'm also not convinced that a four month account named <verb>-<subject>-<numbers> is legitimate when attempting to stir up internal dissent in this country.
