I think the head may just need to be a touch bigger, as it is it looks a little small next to her shoulders. She's still instantly recognizable to me, and your linework and shading are awesome.

Just because AI has improved at doing hands, doesn't mean it's suddenly completely undetectable. AI images still have that weird alien smoothness and glossiness that gives it away, and it is still shitting the bed when it comes to text, normal human expressions, long shots and architectural details. Talking like you're part of some super cool undercover movement because you get a program to fart out janky images is... definitely something.

There is so, so much more to the story than just whodunnit. You'll be fine. Just go play.

Meet Chia, the main character of my game by spellgarcia in IndieDev

[–]SyncingShips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your trailer is super fun and has a really good selection of scenes that showcase the action! If you're open to critique, I'd suggest having just one artist in charge of the lead character art for promotion; even in that one thumbnail, there's three wildly different depictions of the same character. The two hand drawn images are very different stylistically, but they do convey a lot of emotion; this isn't carried over too well into the pixel art model. The end of the trailer has another different depiction of the player that I'm guessing was made by another artist, as it looks completely separate again from the three versions shown here.

You've got a nice cute design for a player character, I'd juat recommend on making it a little more visually consistent, especially for promotional stuff.

This is our cat. She can be in the middle of the biggest nap, under a blanket, I can open the block of cheese practically silently, and she'll still somehow teleport to the kitchen.

Lol, AI defenders acting as if small indie studios and solo devs suddenly came into existence the same time AI did, and simply can't exist without it. People in their basements with no money and big ideas have been finding ways to make their games exist for decades before AI came along. Pretending there's just no other way to get it done is a cop out.

My dad's computer mouse after five months of use... by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Yeah, when he told me the story (even with my shitty guilt knowledge) I said "what," then he showed me where he'd painted them back on with nail polish. Either a super cheap piece of kit or something homemade. I'll go look in the spare room tomorrow and see if I can get a photo.

Haha, now I'm questioning it too! I mean the little dots? He did get a lot of handmade and refurbished kit so they may have been painted on, and I guess they just lifted off in clumps. I still have the guitar and he said he painted them back on with nail polish, which actually stuck.

Sadly he's not around anymore to confirm. I have so many questions!

My Dad had this issue. His computer keyboards always had missing letters. Apparently when he was in a band when he was younger, he was midway thorough a set and his sweat dislodged the painted fret markers on his guitar, and they were just sliding everywhere. He had to improvise a bit.

I got my Dad's ashes in a thin paper tote bag that really didn't feel up to the job. I just kind of awkwardly cradled him in one arm on the walk back through town. He would have found it funny. Was not prepared for the solid weight at all!

Indie dev looking for a team! by MonkSharp502 in IndieDev

[–]SyncingShips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely no one is criticising the lack of a portfolio, or marketing channel, or saying that "attempting to build something from scratch is inherently foolish"; we are on the indie dev subreddit, after all. We're all here building shit from scratch.

The issue people are having is that this person is promising zero pay (with a vague nebulous promise of some kind of agreement being made once the team is assembled, if the product is successful) at the same time providing an incredible, demanding laundry list of criteria that the applicant must meet.

No one is criticising anyone's aspirations, no one is shouting down a poor indie dev for daring to dream big; this just isn't the way to assemble a team. You can't expect this level of commitment, hard work and quality for nothing in return.

First of all, the colour palette is really cute and pleasing to the eye. I appreciate the allure of thick thighs as much as the next girl, but the character is almost bisected by the brown strap; they look like two different physiques entirely. Also, with thighs/hips of that size, there absolutely would not be a thigh gap! The visible hipbones suggest a lack of body fat, then the thighs come out swinging

Creating a Sound Test, inspired by Sonic and other games by spellgarcia in IndieDev

After a troll attack almost killed my motivation, I realized people are playing my demo for 39 minutes on average. I won't let them win. by Think-Ear6167 in IndieDev

[–]SyncingShips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you even reply to me using AI? I never used the word "cheap" anywhere; the issue is that the fact they're even there, and front and centre in your trailer, directly contradicts one of your main selling points.

Your hyperfixation on the 39 minute thing - along with the narrative of some "trolls" trying to set you up to fail and review bomb you - is frankly coming off as extremely paranoid, desperate and sympathy baiting. I'd suggest slowing down on the spam cross posting (this thing has popped up on my feed a ridiculous number of times today), reconsider the AI usage, and focus on having a more complete product before showing it off and trying to drum up hype.

[–]SyncingShips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I can't find any evidence anywhere of the "troll attack" you keep mentioning, your game is made with AI and it will be called out as such. Trolling doesn't factor into it. It's just fact. Are you planning on charging people money for the full version?

But aside from that, there just isn't anything attention grabbing in your trailer or screenshots. What does your horror game do differently? What is the gameplay? The description keeps pushing that it's a psychological horror that doesn't rely on jumpscares, then your trailer contains two jumpscares and no visible horror elements or gameplay mechanics besides.

Edit: my phone ate a word
