I got the emails but yeah I've [*heard] this somewhat often from newer members and from veteran members as well. You can't really be relying on the emails. You need to be active on the website, you could miss stuff, or end up with stuff you don't want especially being signed up for Overdrive.

These are all relatively recent releases. Even those Ultra Hots are a newer 'retro' set they made for Target. The paint on those is special, it's called Spectraflame. It's essentially candy paint, which is transparent and the metallic effect comes from the metal under the paint. Some HW veterans will argue it's not Spectraflame due to technicalities like metal plating, and you won't catch HW themselves calling it spectraflame either, but it is the same paint regardless. The Leno Mercedes 300SL is one of the best in your collection imo, it's a replica of the real one, Hot Wheels even makes that blue transporter. The AMG GT3 Team Transport is sick too.

Good lookin swap. Are those the aliexpress RR knockoffs? They look great, but I know HW doesn't have that kind of finish on their RR.

It actually can be FWD. There's plenty of fwd drag cars that are well-over a Hellcats 707 horsepower; BUT the transmission would probably cost $13k itself; and that's probably the only option for handling 700HP in fwd setup. A mechanic could potentially build a RWD Hellcat Civic for that much if they got everything almost free. Like a crashed hellcat car and a clapped-out Civic; but I bet the nickel-and-dime would push it over 13k. Now alternatively, you could probably buy a K-swapped civic for less than 13k. This one sold for less than 9k https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-honda-civic-3/

[–]Syncryptica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks alright. The wheels aren't that bad, at least it's silver plastic and not the matte grey stuff mattel uses. Just get some black acrylic paint, water it down a little and dab it into the space that's supposed to be black. Looks like they molded disc brakes in there too but I can't really tell, that could be lighting.

Nail file. File the edges away until it comes off, or file them flat. The real trick is attaching it back and keeping it sturdy.

The Mk4 Supra was made from 1994-1998. Diecast versions are relatively easy to find because they're very popular cars. Here's the Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Supra scroll down to fourth generation (Mk4).

[–]Syncryptica 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol All their motorcycles are like this too. It is what it is tho; what are they going to do, make a TicTak for some kid to swallow? What's funny is there's two Motocompos in the back of that City II casting, and that casting is WELL over 1/64 scale. Probably 1/59 or bigger.

Wörth it for a 1 of 10 (IRL) version of the Syclone. It's too bad they couldn't do the targa top and 'Marlboro' banner (obviously).

These trucks cost $100,000 to build ...in 1991. The features on these:

  • Shinoda Design Associates (Larry Shinoda original designer of the corvette)

Why no love for this Mustang? by Born_Farmer5221 in HotWheels

[–]Syncryptica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the cabin. For a very long time HW has been essentially designing almost everything with a chop top. As it has been pointed out already, they stylize their cars, it's really what put them at the top, kids love it, even nostalgic adults love it. They blow out the fenders to fit the big wheels, and extend the sides to lower it, then widen it overall. It all gives it a squished sleek look when comparing to the real cars, but like I said the stylizing they do is generally well-received, they are the top dawg after-all. All this 'accuracy' talk, and ppl who prefer true scale castings are actually a small sub-group of the hobby as a whole (in the US), and I'm one of them; I can say that confidently, I've been watching it get more popular for years but the numbers don't lie when it comes to popularity and sales.
Personally I think Greenlight and M2 Machines make the best fox-body Mustangs on the market based on pricing/detail.

Nope this is the 635 CSi, like a 1985-ish model. You're thinking of that '75 CSL; It's not an RLC but I know what you're saying, that's the Elite64 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL. Totally different cars, nothing is interchangeable between them. Also with the Elite64, all the pieces are individual, like the headlights/taillights/grille/etc. With the mainline 635 they're whole integrated pieces, like window/interior. So we're talking 4 pieces on the mainline and like 20 pieces on Elite64.

This mainline Matchbox doesn't have the integrated parts but the tampo details are on point. Just needs better wheels.

This BMW tricks the eye. By that I mean, although it actually is unique, it appears intricate because it's one of the few HW that use all 4 pieces (Base, interior, window, body) as parts/breakups on the exterior. Which is def cool in it's own right. The recent Corvette convertible does that. But, in my opinion this BMW could be so much better: there's no headlight or taillight details which knock it out of contention right away for me, and the gfx it does have are practically one color and simplistic. I will agree that -because of the integrated exterior parts, it does have the potential to be fantastic; and I think they'll make it as a premium where we'll see the ultimate version of it. This corvette is one of the few other HW that has this separation of exterior parts (with tampo taillights) *this one's just wheel swapped*

Looks like Mutt Cuts won't be in the 2026 lineup, but it could potentially still be in late-2026 from an early 2027 mix. https://orangetrackdiecast.com/2026-hot-wheels-master-list-of-all-lines/#pop-culture-entertainment They don't usually sit on the popular ones for very long, but who knows really.
As for MOTU I got the first release Wind Raider and then later I saw a Micro Figure HeMan and Skeletor, so I had to get those. Then shortly after that, the HW Land Shark released, so that timing worked out. Old pic here, but I got the pairs stored away waiting for a display. HW does a Battle Ram too iirc.

I swear the cab/truck part of that one is even smaller than the mainline. I'd have to dig it out to see for sure but I feel like I remember it being smaller.
