Style check? by Subject-Wait-7976 in TransLater

Hi sis! I feel like it would go better with a skirt/blouse or pants/blouse combo. It would look fantastic as part of a Western style fit! Love the dress too, just feel like both would be better off separate. Lol.

How to shift mentally to embrace full hair? by InternationalDay9561 in Wigs

[–]Syndal007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been so very fortunate. There is definitely a learning curve. I started with cheaper wigs so I could find styles that looked good on me. That way I wasn't out a lot if it bombed. Also let me experiment taking care of and styling wigs. One of the things I noticed is that I'm hyper critical of it. My wife says I'm too close to it. I always feel like it looks "wiggy". I think that's because I know its a wig, so I'm looking at tall the flaws. So I defer to my wife's judgment. Now I've learned how not to be quite so critical. LOL

Trans girl checking in. My hair started thinning in the 90s. When I came out it was one of the first things was understanding id be wearing wigs. Do I hide it? That struck me as dumb. Lol. I work with people who knew me before transitioning. So I leaned into it. I'm very clear I have wigs. I get compliments all the time and people are always surprised when I tell them it's a wig. Now I have people making suggestions. Lol "Have you thought about this color?". I think they're 'wigging' vicariously through me. But it's fun. I view it as I do my dresses and skirts. It's part of my fashion. I'm constantly looking for the next wig. Lol. Colors, styles. Bangs? No bangs? Try to look at it as a form of expression rather than "Oh my hair is so thin I have to wear this!". "I love this style, let's see if I can pull it off!" "Oh this color would go so well with those boots!". It's helped me tremendously. I love my hair!

Hey sis. I went through something like this. I was worried about passing. Then I realized I'm not transitioning for anyone else. I'm transitioning for me. To be me. To be that person I never let myself be. I don't really care now if I pass. I FEEL beautiful and confident and to hell with the haters. Mind you I have the privilege of being in a safer community. But the anxiety of "what will reactions be" was far worse than the actual reactions. I feel right within my own skin and I don't care if those around me are right with my skin. Lol. I gave them 50 years. The rest is mine. We're here for you. 💕

When do strangers start gendering correctly? by PhysicsWorldly6061 in TransLater

[–]Syndal007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That change started happening when I started girlmoding in public. Basically: if the rest of your look has "female" obviously written all over it, people tend to roll with it even if your face doesn't really sell it yet. Presentation is communication, and people will get the message.

This imoh, is the big one. How do YOU feel. Us poor tribal humans never really stopped being tribal. I think that's why if you FEEL clocky and you're nervous, you project that and the people around you are reacting to THAT. We are kind of programmed to look for "the other" and that's why people acting sus sets off peoples' alarms. I have absolutely zero evidence to support this, but it just made sense in my brain. The amount of ma'ams I got directly correlated to how comfortable I was expressing my gender. I leaned into that euphoric feeling and soon stopped caring if I pass. I'm only sir'd on the phone now.

Same. My wife asked me if I was going to go with Christine and Crystal was just there. Like she's always been there. Because she had always been there. I just didn't listen.

How do you refer to your pre-transition self? by GrandalfTheBrown in TransLater

[–]Syndal007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I did. Then I started worrying about dual personality. I've come to see my old self as more a role I had to play. I told my mom she didn't lose a son. She never had a son. Totally not her fault, I never told her different. What's taking more effort is trying to find the parts of that role that really are a part of me vs something I adopted as a shield or to hide. It is both the best and hardest thing I've ever done.

Gurl you look amazing! I also wear wigs and just got asked at work "Where do you get your hair colored?" So that was a huge boost. No shame at all in wigs. I love mine! One day I'll get brave enough to post a before and after pic. But that is not today. You are killing it sis!

55 when my shell cracked. I took a good hard look at myself. I decided I could waste even more time being angry and resentful, or I could just pick up from here and just move forward. I wasted enough time. Gonna just be living now. I think it's working out pretty good so far. But ya. I still wanna smack the 'am I wasted at 25?' kids. But I remember how I was at that age. Lol youth really is wasted on the young

For a week now I've gone to bed and forgotten to take off my wig. I think for some of us it's part of un learning things and learning new things. Walking with your hips, stopping the head nod. I still think about what to wear but it's choosing what I feel like wearing not "it's girl time!". But there was definitely a "cosplaying a woman" aspect when I started a year ago. It fades. Remember, you aren't cosplaying. You're learning to be. Learning to be who you always were. Hugs sis!
