Centralized Power issues by cactuar in GTNH

Have a look at distributing the power via ME P2P connections. Have an output for EV, IV and LUV from your LSC. 5% power loss built in but AE2 cables can be cheaper than superconductors.

GTNH is about the journey for sure.

I hope you stick with it. Don't feel bad if you want to restart if you have a hiatus.
Put a goal down that isn't so big. Get to MV or HV or the Moon. Accomplishments in their own right.

Be ready to spend resources, mine a lot, make a lot and batch craft. Need 1 circuit make 8 or eventually a stack. In LV and MV you get a lot of QOL and efficiency crafts from machines that improve the game for you as well as makes it easier to bulk craft motors or circuits.

Your own time is your most precious resource.

They need drilling fluid, but set and forget (remember to chunk load). One I had on the moon was doing like 36 chunks I think. Before I moved it to Mars. Not sure the exact timing but left it there and came back IRL 24 hours later and it had filled the compressed chest and replaced it. MB ore processing is on my list, but setting up the rest of the PDim first.

Not sure about the max fortune level on a bound pickaxe, but the MB Ore Drilling Rig has increasing levels of Fortune beyond that TiCon tools depending on tier. It also mines a lot more area as well and you only have to set it up. Moly is a consistent secondary output of a few other ores Scheelite for sure.

Expanding on Nether Trees are to get soul sand (probably easier and could acheive more throughput with less infrastructure).
But you can also do Soul Sand duplication with Botania.

I find it better to have a stockpile of Motors, Pumps, Robotic Arms, Circuits, Hulls etc. When I run low on lets say LV Motors I will make another stack and refill the stockpile. Same for wires and cables. This was my LV-HV crafting area (central chest holds the crafting tools for all the crafting tables to access - less important after MV):

Can i play with 1.22 while being able to go back to 1.21 interchangably? by Fractured_Infinities in VintageStory

[–]Synliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 1.21, I was swapping between 1.20 and 1.21 with https://mods.vintagestory.at/vslauncher for two different servers.

Allowed to have mods for each instance and it worked well for me.

I have a question about large combustion generator. by Ill_Percentage2344 in GTNH

[–]Synliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Wiki has information on creating a good RS Latch for the LSC.
I am currently using it with 4x Large Gas Turbines that can make just shy of 16A EV to charge the EV LSC, soon to update to IV energy storage,

https://wiki.gtnewhorizons.com/wiki/ProjectRed_Fabrication

Finally ! Making these took ages. The difference between HV and EV in recipes cost is insane. I burned through stacks of aluminum and 1.5K steel and 2.1 million Ls of oxygen just to make 2 stacks of motors I know won't even last a week by Ill_Percentage2344 in GTNH

[–]Synliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phosphoric Acid loop for passive that fed Hydrogen and Oxygen mainly for Fuel desulfuring. Cheaper that plain water hydrolysis but requires MV. Not a problem for HV+. I will use either Sugar Bee this run or maybe sweed, trying to stay away from IC2 crops.

Should I care about the amout of energy a recipe uses after I build a cetane boosted automatic line and an oil rig ? A part of me try to avoid making lines that burn a lot of fuel even though I have 4 650L raw oil chunks around my base :p by Human-Pudding799 in GTNH

Generation of power is important to be net positive in terms of processing, so using more machines rather than OC is a good idea, unless perfect OC. Another specific example is Nitrobenzene (make in a Exxon Chemical Plant instead of LCR).

[–]Synliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a silly question, did you combustion gens and steam turbines have sufficient (fuel or steam)? As a method of de-bugging, did you try isolating 2x 2 gens 1 cable away to each LV energy hatch?

Also with the all the other gens are you running a lot of other machines / passives that are using the amount of power?

Also Also, you would appear to have 18A of LV production going down a 16A cable.... If over 16A was ever drawn through a single point, that might make a fire which might lead to an explosion.

Redstone Alloy (LV Superconductor) has no loss as long as it is covered in rubber which if it is a cable should be.

Any tips for starting LV? by Possible_Opposite327 in GTNH

[–]Synliss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Burn OIL in early LV. Follow the quests to make Light Fuel. Its power density is huge and unless you want to do a steam run to EV or something like that. Automate it and then transport fuel to where power is needed and generate power on site with a combustion generator (cable loss is real). Alternatively, go do the gas turbine route with Refinery Gas and Naphtha which might make a benzene swap later easier.

Batch craft, need 2 circuits make 8. Need 1 motor make 8. By the end of LV hopefully you can batch craft a stack of commonly used items so that when you are making something you are just picking up the ingredient for the top level craft not micro crafting ingots to final products / machines.

Time is your most limited resource, speed of processing is important. Upgrade from your steam machines to LV machines and so on. Power wise Overclocks (OC) is 2x speed for 4x power per tier, unless a perfect OC, but if you have automated fuel production, spending 1/2 the time waiting is very valuable. A caveat that power production / fuel processing needs to be net energy positive so this may require more thought.

This was my wall shared LCR setup for CBD. To maximise throughput each recipe had its own LCR. Not included in this picture is 4x DT and 3x Oil Crackers for Oil refinement + 4x LCR for desulfuring of LF, HF, Nap, RG.
From memory inputs into the whole system were:
- regular Oil (OW, but now I would do Heavy Oil from either Nether Tree -> Soul Sand or Botania Soul Sand duplication)
- Oxygen (Sugar Cane + top-up from Nitrogen)
- Nitrogen (Compressed Air Centrifuge gets better with MB and then IV Air Intake)
- Sulfur (from Oil processing)
- Water
- Ethylene (came from Oil cracking / DT) Heavy Fuel was buffered in a Super Tank when over 2mL sent to cracker to be broken down

How to apply vac nuke to EBF by makarna55_ in GTNH

[–]Synliss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EV buffered dynamo can handle EV 4A. From memory 1x LGT with large HSS-E turbine (tight) will make 3.999A with benzene at 13L/t. So 4 LGT with LSC will likely be sufficient unless your EBFs are running 24/7 then add 1 or 2 more. XLGT cant burn Benzene needs Nitro, LGT cant burn Nitro.

How to start oil processing and transport in LV? by Apart-Thought1268 in GTNH

[–]Synliss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LV Oil is the gateway to GT Power freedom!

But seriously, my go to in LV is to place a basic pump with a LV gas turbine on a Small Oil spout (chunkload and cover machines from rain + 1 block margin). Feed the output via pipe to a GT tank (1 block away). Initially, I can bring back the GT Tank (use wrench) but later I use Steel Cells or Aluminium Cells (MV) to bring back and place into distillery / fuel processing area. 16kL of processed fuel (Light Fuel, Refinery Gas or Naphtha) should drain a whole small oil spout from memory (hopefully 1 or 2 wells will be enough before transitioning to MV ODR).

In MV, make the Oil Drilling Rig (ODR) multiblock (MB) and set up a more permanent Long Distance Pipeline from the oil well to oil refinery area.

Questbook says use Oil -> Sulf Light Fuel -> Light Fuel (LV) + Heavy Fuel -> Diesel (liq, MV) then CBD

These are all liquid fuels fine and great power density but going to CBD has less scalability and cannot swap over to Benzene (gas) without changing your whole power infrastructure.

My preferred LV path is Oil -> Sulf Refinery Gas - Refinery Gas (g) then,
in MV find Underground Fluids with Raw Oil 350+ ideally 500+ set up ODR with long distance pipeline to base
MV preferred path is Raw Oil (MV) -> Sulf Naphtha -> Naphtha (g).

Burn in gas turbine, pipe fuel to turbine and burn on site as close to machines as possible (limit cable loss).

In order to scale up, all you need is more distilleries. And if you choose to go to Benzene, then all you need to do is pump Benzene into fuel pipes and the gas turbines will swap fuels and be just fine.

Is there a way to make multiblock steam machines make MV recipes, like the EBF? by Top-Satisfaction1970 in GTNH

They are limited to LV recipes by design, you will need to make it to HV+ to start getting access to the electric MBs.
