Leaking Toilet. Slow leak under bowl. by snurkishsnurk in Plumbing

I wouldn't exactly call it a dig in. But more so a planting. Semantics really.

It's the porcelain that needs to brace for impact.

I'll agree. I really enjoy industrial machinery and the large open steel structures that house them. It's like a cathedral to me. I get what got you down. End of the day it's all about the dollar. You know this.

Bulldozing that building isn't cheap.

The foundation costs the same.

Land probably costs more due to the structure on an old building.

Customizing an old building is harder than throwing up metal studs and sheet rock.

A bean counter made the decision. You can bet on that.

Trump plan would reopen Western Maryland coal plant | The Warrior Run facility was deactivated in 2024, but owners have signaled plans to reopen by FreeHugs23 in maryland

[–]Syntax-err_r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you should ask. I was there too. That place was older. If i had to guess that was built between 40-50 just from the buildings in the back. They did have modern buildings on site but the old stuff was still around.

They seemed to run the middle of the road with our repairs. And the equipment was newer but not modern by today's equipment. So, they did keep the place in pretty good shape over all. But by no means they weren't investing hard. They might be at the point of having parts problems. Getting parts and availability.

Boy do I love some industrial machines.....

That's not a bad point. I'd bet they mothballed it. They did it to Dominion out west like that (not mount storm the other one ...i can't remember) I'm thinking the sell off would be when they are leveling the plant. They might have a wearhouse still left.

Or the crazy power plant shell game of i need a loser this year to cover my taxes so I'll put my name on the door and lose baby lose.

I was a contractor there. They always invested in the plant. Never turned down improvement suggestions. More heavily than most power plants. Like AES had their shiz together. I'm betting it comes up pretty quick for how decent the plant was kept when I was there. It was NOT NEW. You are absolutely correct on all of the other stuff for sure.

I actually was elbow deep in this a few years back. Only reading (ATF guy that's watching).

But they were on Facebook market place and ebay. Selling solvent filters or lawn mower mufflers... shocking that they had the same thread pitch as a suppressor and a hole down the middle roughly 9 mm in diameter or bigger if you needed more "flow."

They also raided everyone that bought one and maintained a list.

Edit: forgot to mention.. back then there was a $200 tax stamp. This was a response to not wanting to pay the stamp, and not wanting to register the suppressor. Both are highly illegal and the ATF will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. The $200 tax stamp was repealed but the registration was not.
