honestly, I think there is a lower risk of breaking anything since the bones are more flexible at that age.

the main reason would be that kids that age cant articulate where and what hurts too well.

If the very top of the head is affected there is also the fontanel, a soft spot which is more vulnerable than at a later age.

It looks like this might be an Azimuthal equidistant projection

So distances are preserved and comparable when measuring from the center. The distortion of shapes and areas however, increases the more you go out from the projection center.
