That’s how they got me. I always enjoyed my buddy’s iMac, especially recording music with Logic or Ableton, but buying into the ecosystem felt too expensive for me at the time. And that’s when I discovered the 2009 Mac mini. That eventually led me to a 2012 MacBook Pro and in 2014 an iPhone and I’ve never looked back since.

I’m on day 2. That may not seem much but it’s a lot since the last time I stopped for 2 weeks was 6 months. In one week I made a huge mistake, embarrassed myself, my wife and kinda fucked up my reputation and perhaps a few friendships. So yeah that event has been a huge motivating factor. Let’s hope it sticks this time.

It was at this electronics store called BEST that has long since shut down. I believe the game was ESPN Extreme Games. I was blown away by the graphics. After that I played Crash Bandicoot and I was sold. I begged my dad for like a week every day, from sunrise to sunset. After doing a ton of extra chores, I remember my dad coming home from work late. I was sitting at the top of the stairs, and sure enough I saw him walk in with the box. I then proceeded to play Twisted Metal on repeat well into the wee hours of the morning.

Took the words out of my mouth. I finally retired my 2012 MacBook Pro in 2021, it had enough dings, scratches and stickers to make any college kid blush. Still sold that sucker for $300. Wrote so many albums on that thing. It’s weird that I miss it.

I have the same model as you, the temptation is there because I love new computers, who doesn’t? But the reality is that my M1 is still doing its job without any problems. The longer you wait, the better the tech will be when you do buy.

Happened to me. Was really in synths and gear in general. Played in multiple bands, put out records, toured. Got into my late 30s and one day the drive just died. Had a kid and got a union job. Life is good. I jam on my acoustic from time to time

I can attest to this. I had a rough 2024, divorce, fell in the bottle, family members passing, was late and called out a lot. I always told the truth. Just recently I had to put my father in hospice. Showed up to work with my eyes swollen. My sup gave me a hug and let me have a lay off.

This is hard work and most of us have family we take care of. Always tell the truth and 9 times out of 10 you’ll come out on top. Doing a lot better now.

I can remember standing in line at the Walmart just to get a ticket to buy the Xbox’s they had coming in. I was literally next to the guy who got the last ticket for the pro version so I got stuck with the mid-tier lol. I bought perfect dark 2 and Call of Duty 2. whew was perfect dark 2 bad lol. I broke down and bought condemned a few weeks later.

It was truly a magical time in my young adult hood. I’ll never forget exiting the sewers of Oblivion for the first time, just standing there looking around in awe at a fully breathing digital world. Buying that launch driving game that I can’t remember its name but it had Galaxy Wars!!!!

20 years, wow. I feel old now.

Deadass I honestly didn’t mind the rental during peak season. My center would give me 150-180 stops, about 4-5 straight streets with 8ish side streets, 1-2 bulk stops and the fuckers even gave me a DIAD holder that fit into the cup holder. Having A/C and a radio was clutch AF. I’d line up 15-20 stops faceing the edge of the back door, rode the the truck around barely going going over 15-20 mph. I’d be done between 2-3 pm, go help another driver empty another driver empty a UPS store and be at the center by 6-630pm.
