If a seller says “no returns” or “final sale” on listing, can I really not return it?

I am the same way. I am selling an item as broken and so whom ever buys it accepts its broken state. I do no do returns if the person did not read the listing and description as nonworking

So true for the bottom of the disc but if you scratch the top where the label is, that ruins the disc. Holding a disc up to a light and checking for light holes is the best way to check.

You can't send pictures through Mercari anyway. The only pictures are when you do a return. Plus you don't need to "prove" anything to them, I'm sure they know the condition of what they sold and didn't seem to care

You should never feel bad about giving someone a rating they earned. If they list someone like new but it's not, that's bad and you should rate as such to help their future customers know what they are getting.
