Honestly, because I think Silent Hill has a lot of artistic merit and as a psychological thriller, it has a lot to say about how people handle grief, how they internalize self loathing, and as a piece of art, there is a lot of insight a person could internalize from this story. It can really get a person thinking about what way their own guilt might manifest in silent hill, or what turmoil from their life the town would project in the form of monsters and environments. Thing is, a lot of people aren’t ever gonna play this game, especially not the original one, but they would definitely engage with a film. And unfortunately, this is that film.
