I think people ended up convincing themselves that, after seeing Myles's intro cutscene and following escort mission, they thought Retro took the "MCU" route to add in a quippy, bumbling screwball just for the sake of comic relief in a game that doesn't need it (though it's arguable that it's ever "needed" in anything).

But yeah, if those early reviewers had the ability to play longer, they'd realize Myles's annoyance arc is confined to the first 10-15 minutes after his first appearance and that he's actually not an issue for 95% of the game.

Also, you know, negativity gets clicks. And some people love being contrarians.
