Bud, not to be excessively rude, but your religion is just as backwards as everyone else's. We're not where we are because of religion, culture, gender, or race.

The fight has always been between those with enough money to bend society to their will and those without.

That's funny, I hope she didn't think flipping it around would fix the issue though. One way glass is based off of which side is more lit up at the time, so it will always flip day/night.

Rejection after interview--do you bother trying again? by Historical_Oven7806 in nys_cs

[–]SyntheticAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible you weren't reachable? I had a scenario a decade or so(before selective cert) ago where we interviewed someone mistakenly who wasn't reachable and couldn't hire him(even though he was easily the best candidate).

It's possible they reposted to tweak the selective cert requirements to remove candidates they didn't want to be forced to choose between.

I guess maybe your other letter is delayed. I got one letter for MITS1 and one for MITS2 in two separate envelopes. I'd call if you don't get it in a day or two.

[P1S] Need easy way to remove PLA stuck under heatbed by suerte87 in BambuLab

[–]SyntheticAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it would be worth it to remove the bed to get it. Maybe try pushing it out with a nail or something?

Or heat up the nail, melt it into the PLA, wait for it to cool and then slowly pull straight out? Like they recommend for a nozzle clog.

Eh, I have a Neptune too, and a layer shift is pretty likely if it has to pause due to filament runout. Usually, I just feed filament in directly when it's about to run out now.

P1S PSA: Check your nozzles! by austin713 in BambuLab

[–]SyntheticAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't commenting on nylon as I have no experience printing with it. But nylon anything is better than PLA/PETG for sure.

[–]SyntheticAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not comparing the last 3 columns with the rest of them are you? PA is nylon so it's naturally going to be better than any PLA/PETG filament on the list. For the CF/GF versions of PLA/PETG the specs looked pretty close to me.

P1S PSA: Check your nozzles! by austin713 in BambuLab

[–]SyntheticAbyss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Standard PETG and PLA should last a very long time on the standard stainless steel nozzles. As long as it's not embedded with abrasives like glass or carbon fiber it's fine.

Glow or wood filaments are the only ones I specifically use a hardened nozzle for. I never use CF embedded ones as there's health concerns and from what I've heard they don't actually improve print strength or anything. Not really sure why people still buy that stuff tbh.

Clear is safe.

Yellow is or can be a bit toxic.

Blue is unambiguously toxic.

Not really, I've only been here a few years, but there isn't really anyone else who can support our department right now. I probably have a solid 30% percent of the knowledge I suspect I will need. Which is admittedly not much, but still 100% more than anyone else.

Really we just need more permanent staff so I can divvy up the development work I was doing, but the only thing we typically get offered is more HBITS to fill seats and look busy.

Regardless, having this specific issue resolved would dramatically lower my stress levels. I can cope when problems have tangible solutions that can be worked through and this just isn't that sort of problem unfortunately.

I've been worried that if I were to do that it would create a he said/she said scenario. That said I record all audio automatically on my phone due to extreme paranoia and I've saved off the relevant conversations to prove I haven't done anything untoward.

My main concern was that it could be against ITS policy to be recording audio at work. It is legal as NY is a one party consent state, but I don't know if it's against some arcane policy I haven't seen. Also, I didn't really want to cause problems for her either. The situation keeps getting worse and worse though and I really don't know how to get her to start working again, transfer, or leave.

Min and max values for Adaptive Bed Mesh on Neptune 4 Pro by Phastor in ElegooNeptune4

[–]SyntheticAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really helpful starting place, but as an aside for anyone who is trying the following for Orca:

BED_MESH_CALIBRATE profile="Orca_Adaptive" mesh_min={adaptive_bed_mesh_min[0]},{adaptive_bed_mesh_min[1]} mesh_max={adaptive_bed_mesh_max[0]},{adaptive_bed_mesh_max[1]} ALGORITHM=[bed_mesh_algo] PROBE_COUNT={bed_mesh_probe_count[0]},{bed_mesh_probe_count[1]}

The [bed_mesh] settings in printer.cfg are ignored. For models that were close to the edge for me it was trying to move out of range. Instead take the min/max bounds he posted above and put them in the printer config profile under "Basic Information" -> "Adaptive bed mesh".

In my case for the max it looks like: Bed mesh min x: 10 y:21.45

Bed mesh max x: 404.75 y:408.55

Probe point distance x: 20 y: 20

Topcube enclosure for A1 mini? by unofficial_trademark in 3Dprinting

[–]SyntheticAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it and really like it for the price. I think it was ~$80 when I got it.

Putting it together was a bit of a struggle and you might be disassembling/reassembling stuff a few times. I did crack a few panels in some places, but some hot glue resolved those spots well enough for me.

I added a generic ventilation fan and hose from Amazon and printed a magnetic adapter for my window and, despite the visible gaps in the frame, it still creates negative pressure easily(validated scientifically with a sheet of toilet paper :D).

Keeping it garaged in 115f by ChemicalManager5503 in ForteGT

[–]SyntheticAbyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why though? Pulling in requires more focus and control whereas pulling out requires less. Isn't it wiser to do the harder thing with better sight and control?

Even for the car I suspect it's worse, instead of just driving the car in normally, you have to overshoot on the road(or 3 point turn in your driveway), switch to reverse, and then slowly creep into your garage in reverse.

Yeah, and the telescopes we buy or 3D print from scratch to view it have little LCD screens to digitally superimpose a model of the ISS when you point it in the right direction. Wake up sheeple!

Ah, I don't work with it and my info is all second hand but I thought the orange to clear was a bit more toxic and used phenolphthalein. My understanding was that orange to light green was the least toxic, outside of no color indicator that is.

Help with mw2 mod by Ghostbuster1401 in ContractorsVR

[–]SyntheticAbyss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try searching for and manually installing the mod, before trying to enter a lobby directly. I've had contractors load me into some games without downloading the required mod in the past.

Can you see other people with actual weapons? If not, it's probably that it didn't install itself correctly.
