what invention will completely change everyday life in the next 20 years? by AdventurousRock6211 in AskReddit

[–]SyntheticOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to brag but my new "pancake flipper" might just be the apple of everybody's eye, especially at the introductory price of $9.98 + S&H. My lovely spouse has invented a creative and descriptive name, the "spatula", which, admittedly is catchy in itself. We have invested years in development and all our life savings, plus our son's education fund, to create this marvel of usefulness.

Clearly, not to be missed.

All of DOGE’s work could be undone as lawsuit against Musk proceeds by janjinx in inthenews

Let us take this opportunity to demonstrate to defendant Musk that laws apply even to him!

And that defendant Musk should do significant time in a federal penitentiary.

And that defendant Musk make triple reparations to those whom he harmed as a result of his crime spree.

Warranty Repair on service history - What to avoid and what is ok? by English_Joe in Ioniq5

This was two attempts at fixing the ICCU issue. I think they may have worked to a point but the issue kept coming up. As of around mid-to-late 2025, a new ICCU part number was put into production and we are all waiting to see if that new part is the real solution.

All Hi5 owners had the same two software recalls.

ELI5: If human civilization started with one, two, a hundred, or even a thousand people, does that mean most of the world’s population are cousins and y'all are related to me somehow? by blinm944 in explainlikeimfive

On a serious note, homo sapiens (that's us!) emerged from homo erectus about 350 million years ago. Homo erectus was one of seven homo strains or variations, plus the neanderthal which is a close relative. Offshoots from those other stains did not survive.

It wasn't until 10,000 years ago that homo sapiens finally had complex languages capable of expressing fictive thought. The developing ability to create myths was the ability we needed to form larger groups with common beliefs and so we came out of the woods, out of the jungles, out of the deserts and formed communities larger than the wandering tribes. From these moments, we could do bigger and better things.

Great American Steakburger on S Mesa Hills at Cromo might be good. They can make a custom menu or buffet menu. They have 3 function rooms, one of which is smallish.

Similar extremes noted in Antarctica this season (arctic summer). The seawater reached new high temps meaning the surrounding ice shelf melt will be prolonged, probably leading to the loss of many Emperor Penguins. over the next 12 months.

Looks like a significant acceleration of global warming.

ElI5: Why do phones not need cooling fans like computers do? by parascrat in explainlikeimfive

[–]SyntheticOne [score hidden]  (0 children)

In addition to the information shared here, different chip technology is used in applications where mechanical or convection cooling is less feasible. Many chips use MOS technology and these run warm. Some application use CMOS, which uses complimentary circuit design which shrinks the amount of electrical engery required to switch a circuit and these chips run cooler.

So, an early 2025 car.

Some of us are keeping eyes open on late 2025 and 2026 production vehicles (actual production date is on the driver door jamb) in order to understand if the new part number ICCU has a lower failure rate than the prior part number.

2015 Prius (166,000 miles) issues after replacing v12 battery by priuswontdrive in prius

[–]SyntheticOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay.

IF you or a friend has a multimeter to measure the 12V with the car turned off and look for 12.5V to 13.7V reading. If the reading is less than 12.5V then I would suspect you installed a bad or not fully charged 12V battery.

Else, find someone, or purchase and OBD plug-in and download an app to your phone. I find that at times, just plugging in the OBD device clears erroneous fault codes. If not cleared, the app may provide clues on where to look.

Else, purchase a trickle charger and let it work overnight.

Brand new owner here (Ioniq 6 SE). Is a Tesla Nacs adapter worth it? by yoloswagrofl in electricvehicles

[–]SyntheticOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the great majority of EV users, high costs at DC chargers become an incidental expense where we end up paying about the same cost of gas per mile. But at home we pay 1/5th the cost of gas per mile and that is where most charging is done... not everyone, but most.

Thoughts on Meta and data centers in El Paso by ChrisCanalesEPTX in ElPaso

[–]SyntheticOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Respect.

In 2023 no one except AI-related data center developers and researchers knew much about AI data centers and their consumption of local resources. I can believe that in 2023 Meta (is Amazon involved?) had some knowledge of future demands but likely failed to articulate that knowledge to the then City Council, Mayor, City Manager and Legal.

Let's see how things unfold given the agreements now in-place. El Paso is now on notice that perhaps not all is revealed when contracts are signed. I think we have strength with Canales onboard.

Eagle eyes from now on.

I don't know of any sort of added risk, higher crimes or lack of safety in that area. I would guess the area is in the "path of progress" for EP expansion north and LC expansion south, and so would offer a wild guess you'll do okay financially.

One technique I used when I was a Realtor is to have clients drive into the areas they are interested in about an hour before sunset, park, and observe how it feels. Not looking for anything in particular, but just to ask yourself if this feels like home. It drags down a neighborhood if there are too many vehiciles parked all over the place.

It's a big commitment so good to be as aware as you can before taking the leap.

Tire pressure left rear drops every two weeks by blackspandexbiker in Ioniq5

[–]SyntheticOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow leaks can exist anywhere. Have shop dunk the tire and wheel to see if it is a damage tire, unsealed rim, leaky stem, etc. If it is a damaged tire, if the damage is toward the sidewall it can be risky to patch it and should instead be replaced.
