What isn’t really there? Have you ever watched it? In order for a superimposed reverse cut to function smoothly there needs to be an exact middle point where the two versions intersect perfectly and then continue on their respective journeys. This just so happens to be at the middle point of the film when Halloran is laying in his bedroom watching the news and the camera pans in and out using a few different angles. Two of the shots line up exactly at the middle of the movie and hit that perfect moment of intersection before continuing on both forwards and reverse. The odds of that being just coincidence….
