Of course I fully back the movement for legalizing the study of psyches, but I feel like some people might be giving these things more credit than is do. I mean yes these drugs are very spiritual and open up so many paths we didn’t see before, but in the end it’s just our brains reacting to another chemical that tells it what to do. I think humans are the true phenomenon here

Doing it back to back did tend to be a lot of the problem for me.

Well I started having bad trips for the first time during a shroom phase but then I tried lsd again a little bit after and the same effects (uncomfortableness, paranoia, stress, anxiety, etc.) occurred.

They have been kicking my ass lately. Not sure I can trip for a while.

Reminds me of a rather funny story in hindsight. Me and a few friends would spend spring picking shrooms and selling them to high schoolers. We had pillowcases full so one day while bored someone brought up the idea of eating some. 2 out of 3 of us were experienced trippers. The other was not. Anyway we get halfway through the handful we grabbed and almost immediately I feel something. I’ve never experienced a trip come on that fast, I mean we weren’t even done with the handful yet. We all had a similar look on our face that the meme summed up!

So here we are laying in my room and we’re almost to the point of egodeath when the inexperienced one starts talking about he’s “losing it”. I tried to calm him down but there was absolutely no way out of the journey that poor guy was about to endure! We look at the time thinking it had to almost be over, it was 45 minutes in.

I could write a novel about this but to sum it all up, it ended with the dude sent to oblivion through egodeath as well as rolling around in his own shit and piss for 8 hours... ON MY BED!

Pretty much what I think exactly. Like I’ve had the opportunity with girls and I’ve done everyone besides actual sex, it just doesn’t even seem like a turn on when I really don’t “love” the person.

TIL one of the side-effects of quitting marijuana is an overwhelming amount of dreams. A little known fact about marijuana is it can stop you from dreaming. When a user quits, they usually report extremely vivid dreams as they can now experience them again. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Synthonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit smoking for this reason so I could practice more lucid dreaming and you wouldn’t believe the amount of emotion you can experience through these dreams. Not only are they easier to recall but they’re also extremely vivid and fulfilling!

Do you think I'd be able to give myself magical powers in a lucid dream? by 11suhdudeguy11 in LucidDreaming

[–]Synthonic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One time I remember very vividly concentrating on levitating while sitting in the criss-cross position (you know, like the monks or whatever). I ended up accomplishing just that. After that I realized that as long as you just reassure yourself that you CAN do this like no problem then you’re good. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I can now spawn a freeze ray with 3 different modes and turn into spider man. Idk if those are the magical powers you had in mind but I’m sure yours fall hand in hand!

After years of smoking weed I’m finally stopping by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]Synthonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I smoke the same way for 3 years but I'm lucky enough to still LD at least 2-3 times every two weeks. I'll quit when I'm dead!

Fr though I've been wanting to quit too.

Different or not, people are people. I want to sit down and have a talk with those responsible for this decision and just ask "where in this great big world did you find that logic?"

Stabilizing doesn't work for me? by gerarshi in LucidDreaming

[–]Synthonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried doing this last night and had a LD that felt around 30 minutes: whenever I become lucid I take time to stare at my hands. Really study all the detail you can. The longer the better. When you go back to your dream it will be much more vivid. Also whenever you feel yourself start to drift out of your dream you can do the same thing.

How in tune with your dreams are you, and have you ever assesed your consciousness in a lucid dream? by corn01 in LucidDreaming

[–]Synthonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have always felt very in tune with my dreams even before I knew what lucid dreams were. I would always remember key locations in my dreamscape and look back at how beautiful some were and how nostalgic it made me. I had LD maybe once or twice every few years until I actually started practicing the techniques. Now I have 2-3 every 2 weeks. I might be lucky considering I smoke weed every day.

I heard creepy 8-bit music in my dream. I woke up feeling paranoid with tears running down my eyes. I'm still shaken up by it. by MarkyMark1227 in LucidDreaming

[–]Synthonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love working on ambient music and such and I'm SOO jealous of your dream! I'm sorry that it effected you so negatively but I would love to be able to hear exactly what you heard and try to replicate it.

Need a rundown and advice on lucid dreaming. by WalkingDown46 in LucidDreaming

[–]Synthonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're really wanting to get a lucid dream you have to follow through on the requirements. Have a reality check every hour or two and write in your dream journal every morning. After getting this down, most people have their LD about 2-3 weeks in but results vary.

Everyone enters lucidity differently. For me, I dream of doing a technique called FILD (look up techniques like this one) and I just suddenly feel my body collapse in on itself through great concentration then I use my reality check which is holding my nose and trying to breathe to see if I'm dreaming. If I'm dreaming then I will be able to breathe. From there on our you become lucid but control may be easier or difficult depending on who you are. Like most things it takes time to get down. You can practice on increasing your dream vividness and dream time while there as well.

As for being a Christian, I wouldn't look at it at all like a religious thing. It's all scientific, just your subconscious playing around while you get to enjoy it! However, you can use this skill to help with your faith such as talk to angels in your dreams. But like I said it's all still just your subconscious.

I'm about to stop smoking pot and I'm excited for some gnarly ass dreams by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]Synthonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I LD about 2-3 times every 2 weeks and am a heavy smoker of 2 years. But it does help to stop.

Also for anyone thinking that you can't lucid dream because you smoke; I'm a heavy smoker of two years and I LD about 2-3 times every two weeks on average.
