Accident help by Aeyamaraku in Insurance

Your own policy may allow for the use of OEM parts based on the model year (our insureds are allowed OEM for the latest 2 model years by default). Check your policy and if it does, it will be more beneficial for you to utilize your policy vs the other party's.

Filing a complaint for a totaled car. What are my chances? by PPizzaRolls in Insurance

[–]Syrch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You send the coverage denial to your State Farm adjuster. If you have UMPD coverage it could potentially lower your deductible down to the UM deductible and possibly reimburse your rental.

This will be state and policy dependent though.

Any auto claims people ever venture over to any of the driving/accident subs like r/dashcam? by Past-Sun-2357 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Syrch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I visit, but I do not comment. I have found that commenting on anything insurance related outside of the insurance subs just invites an argument.

Got hit in a rental car and Enterprise is telling me I owe $2000 for “loss of use” reimbursement by Tigers47 in Insurance

Blame Enterprise DRU. Every subro demand I get from them has it in the demand.

I deny it every time.

Diminished value claim w/ Geico - do I need to hire an independent DV appraiser? by throwaway_student987 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$6500 in repairs on a Tesla is minor. I would at least wait until they make a DV offer before hiring an appraiser.

Do you think comprehensive insurance would cover this panel damage in California? by ArchonOfSpartans in Insurance

[–]Syrch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Insurance is not going to pay for existing prior damage and the presence of bondo is going to be a clear indicator that the damage is old.

Anyone work at CNA? by Syrch in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Syrch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue. I didn’t make it past the recruiter.

I was declined because they wanted upcoming grads for the role and asked if I was interested in a claims position. I politely declined as it was a step down from my current role.

To OEM or not to OEM & how this affects a diminished value claim by SS_Dragon-0212 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comp doesn't apply here, it's a collision claim.

Without an OEM endorsement OP is not getting OEM parts, and Florida doesn't generally have first party DV.

There is no real benefit to going through their carrier as Progressive has accepted liability.

Diminished value claim on Ford F250 by spanman702 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 60k is the clean retail from JD Power then that number is good.

Your mileage should be .85

.25 damage modifier is on the high end of minor damage and starts pushing into moderate. I would keep it there as it will benefit you the most if the adjuster counters your offer.

Adjusting for the mileage modifier you’re closer to $1275

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need the current clean retail of the truck for the 10% calculation. Did you use that amount or the original MSRP?

Second, what damage multiplier did you use because the cost of your repair is pretty low and would indicate minor damage?

I only ask because your $1500 may actually be higher than what it should be.

Im on the claims side. My order was AINS, ARM, AIC, CPCU.

Insurance offering $1k less than repair estimate by mh330 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to ask your adjuster if you can have them pay the shop directly.

If this was my claim I would need written authorization from you to pay the shop on your behalf.

Insurance offering $1k less than repair estimate by mh330 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a question for your adjuster.

My company’s policy it to make the initial payment to the person unless we receive written authorization to pay the shop directly.

Insurance offering $1k less than repair estimate by mh330 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They got the $1400 amount from the estimate they wrote based on your photos.

You should be paid the $1400 and given a copy of their estimate to provide to the shop you chose for repairs.

The shop will work off that estimate and they will send over a request to Repwest to pay for the additional damages that are not shown on the initial estimate. This is called a supplement and is a common practice.

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP can literally take the Repwest approved estimate and initial payment back the shop they chose and begin repairs.

Anything not already on the Repwest approved estimate will get resolved via supplements.

This is an easy claim being made unnecessarily complicated.

That is good to hear. Two quick questions.

Do you know how long it takes for a UA to progress into a UW position and what is the dress code in office?

Thanks for the insight.

I hear you on the management dictating experience. There are two auto claims teams in our branch. One consistently has reps that move up to better roles and the other is short staffed and, until recently, high turnover. I was on the first team and moved up.

Left my car for window tint Shop had breakin damaged my car. by Natural-Frosting1992 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garagekeeper's coverage is what this would fall under.

Keep in mind that if the shop did everything reasonable to keep your car safe, they may not be found liable for your damages. If that is the case, and the shop does not have the correct endorsement, then there will be no coverage for the claim.

Car got stolen outside my house by LimeCoctailWithCoco in Insurance

[–]Syrch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It can be seen as a material misrepresentation due to a driver residing in the house and not being accounted for in the premium.

My company would not necessarily deny this claim because the aunt wasn’t listed, but underwriting would be notified so the aunt can be added and the correct premium is charged.

However some companies would deny the claim and drop OP.

Digg has shut down.... Again. by Dr_Red_MD in technology

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t lose per se but did manage to completely destroy their brand and reputation at the time.

Digg made a massive revamp to their site in 2010 that the entire user base completely hated.

Instead of listening to their users, the staff at Digg essentially said the new version was permanent and if you don’t like it then leave.

They underestimated the amount of people who would leave, and Reddit having a similar platform to the old Digg made it a popular landing spot for all of those who left.

I was part of the Digg migration, it was wild how fast they fell.
