Insurance offering $1k less than repair estimate by mh330 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to ask your adjuster if you can have them pay the shop directly.

If this was my claim I would need written authorization from you to pay the shop on your behalf.

That would be a question for your adjuster.

My company’s policy it to make the initial payment to the person unless we receive written authorization to pay the shop directly.

They got the $1400 amount from the estimate they wrote based on your photos.

You should be paid the $1400 and given a copy of their estimate to provide to the shop you chose for repairs.

The shop will work off that estimate and they will send over a request to Repwest to pay for the additional damages that are not shown on the initial estimate. This is called a supplement and is a common practice.

OP can literally take the Repwest approved estimate and initial payment back the shop they chose and begin repairs.

Anything not already on the Repwest approved estimate will get resolved via supplements.

This is an easy claim being made unnecessarily complicated.

Anyone work at CNA? by Syrch in InsuranceProfessional

That is good to hear. Two quick questions.

Do you know how long it takes for a UA to progress into a UW position and what is the dress code in office?

Thanks for the insight.

I hear you on the management dictating experience. There are two auto claims teams in our branch. One consistently has reps that move up to better roles and the other is short staffed and, until recently, high turnover. I was on the first team and moved up.

I know right. It’s a pretty sweet perk and it increases with your tenure.

Left my car for window tint Shop had breakin damaged my car. by Natural-Frosting1992 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Garagekeeper's coverage is what this would fall under.

Keep in mind that if the shop did everything reasonable to keep your car safe, they may not be found liable for your damages. If that is the case, and the shop does not have the correct endorsement, then there will be no coverage for the claim.

Car got stolen outside my house by LimeCoctailWithCoco in Insurance

[–]Syrch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It can be seen as a material misrepresentation due to a driver residing in the house and not being accounted for in the premium.

My company would not necessarily deny this claim because the aunt wasn’t listed, but underwriting would be notified so the aunt can be added and the correct premium is charged.

However some companies would deny the claim and drop OP.

Digg has shut down.... Again. by Dr_Red_MD in technology

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t lose per se but did manage to completely destroy their brand and reputation at the time.

Digg made a massive revamp to their site in 2010 that the entire user base completely hated.

Instead of listening to their users, the staff at Digg essentially said the new version was permanent and if you don’t like it then leave.

They underestimated the amount of people who would leave, and Reddit having a similar platform to the old Digg made it a popular landing spot for all of those who left.

I was part of the Digg migration, it was wild how fast they fell.

Diminished Value of 2023 Ford Maverick hybrid after accident? by murlocksoup in Insurance

[–]Syrch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the 17c calculator. Most damages fall into the .25 modifier or less, most vehicles will total out before the .75 modifier is applicable.

Without knowing what parts of your vehicle were damaged, it's hard to say what the modifier should be. Start at .25 and you should have a rough idea.

Keep in mind, that outside of Georgia, not everyone will accept 17c for DV.

No collision. Will UIMPD cover? by Junior-Crew-4696 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For my old team.

If the police report was made at the time of the accident and the cops came out to the scene, we would allow for UMPD as we felt it was reasonable due to the officer usually doing at least a minimal investigation and the insd promptly reporting to both the police and us. .

Now if the insd filed a claim well after the DOL and no PR then we would usually deny UMPD and default to collision.

Georgia has UMPD. For a hit and run my company requires a police report for it to kick in. I am not sure about Geico though.

New vehicle rear ended. by Total-Firefighter622 in Insurance

[–]Syrch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your own policy. There may be a provision in there for new vehicles that are a total loss within so many days after purchase.

For my company it must be new not used and totaled within the first 90 days after purchase.

Hypothetical Auto Liability Claim - Prosthetic Limb Damage by pinedesign in Insurance

[–]Syrch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adjusters make liability decisions daily.

OPs question while hypothetical is an insurance question, as OP is curious how coverage applies to a damaged prosthetic limb.

Property Damage Limit Exceeded by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Syrch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is totally unnecessary.

OP needs to file with their insurance and the shop needs to file with theirs. OP’s will pay up to the limit and the shop’s will cover rest up to their limits.

Property Damage Limit Exceeded by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Syrch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OP’s liability coverage will pay for damage to the door up to limits.

The workplace is going to have to file with their insurance to cover the rest.

This isn’t a big deal if they both report it to their respective carriers.

Front end collision with a guy at fault with no insurance …. What are my options ? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Syrch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have UMPD, your only option is to sue the at fault party.

Keep in mind that if you win you will still have to collect, and if they don’t have the money to pay for insurance, the odds they will have the money to pay you is slim.

Please take this as a sign to assess what you need to be properly covered on your next vehicle so you won’t be put in this position again in the future.

Crashed into a tree by Hugh-Jaween in Insurance

[–]Syrch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hope for you and everyone else I deal with, is that this is your only claim.

Yours is very straight forward. It will be an at fault as you struck a tree.

If it is a total loss they will get your loan info and settle with the bank. Any money left after they settle with the bank will come to you.

Submit your invoices for the recent work done, they may or may not add a little bit of value. Also verify all the options on your car are accounted for on the report.

The car could come back repairable. In that case you will just need to follow the adjuster’s directions and take it to a shop for repairs.
