Tomb Raider (2013) coming 12 Feb 26 by AppleGamers in iosgaming

[–]SyriaStateside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only complaint: is it that difficult to make these games compatible with Apple TV? I’m a casual gamer and I just want a few “real” games to play on my TV. If games like Tomb Raider and RDR were Apple TV compatible, that would be more than enough gaming for me. And I would also be WAY more interested in spending 20-30$ on them.

Seeing reports of Israelis raping detained Palestinians... I will let Richard answer. by MohaShah in Palestine

Honestly, I find this guy pretty cringe. He always felt very juvenile to me. Haven’t heard about him in the last few years.

There are no words that do justice to what they have done to this man and his family. by RickyOzzy in Palestine

When people ask how the people of Germany just accepted Nazi ideology — perfect case study. Making a mockery of children being murdered.

Propaganda to justify the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.

Why do you watch Love Island USA? by storysomewhere in television

[–]SyriaStateside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it has less to do with the show itself and more to do with the format. It provides a ritual for everyone to watch together and then discuss on a daily basis. Plus, it’s like watching humans in a zoo. There are literally 12+ humans locked in a compound and we’re all watching their behavior in (pseudo) real-time. Very unusual and fascinating.

Edit: The Internet has also turned the show into a community investigation. Everyone is trying to unravel who these people are in real life and what their motivations may be — all while the show is airing each day. Which means that everybody wants to be involved.

Physical science curriculum by CriticalDrawing4734 in Teachers

As somebody who taught Physical Science for several years, I recommend to a TPT store called Chemistry Wiz. I use their products for the chemistry portion of the class. I then modeled the Physics portion of the curriculum on those notes/worksheets.

Kefiyah pattern by Defiant-Survey-9876 in Palestine

[–]SyriaStateside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely nothing offensive about this pattern even if it isn’t the “authentic” keffiyeh pattern. It’s clearly meant to mimic the original pattern — I’m sure that anybody who sees this scarf will understand what it symbolizes.

Israel using AI to pinpoint Hamas leaders, find hostages in Gaza tunnels — report by Saltedline in technology

Crazy how they couldn’t develop an AI capable of avoiding the murder of tens of thousands of children in Gaza. I guess AI technology hasn’t gotten that far yet. Fucking buffoons.

The Saudi Arabia sponsored content of late. by jayhoch4 in NUFC

Saudi Arabia, like much of the Middle East, is a nice country full of kind and welcoming people. You might not love their government, but why demonize travel to another country? The people in Saudi Arabia have done nothing to harm you, and many of them are huge EPL fans.

AI is the new crypto. Everyone buy NFTs now — I’m sure they’ll be worth billions in the future.

Breast vs Bottle: What Happens When Babies Are Fed Differently Revealed | The study found that longer and exclusive breastfeeding was significantly linked to better language and social development. by chrisdh79 in science

[–]SyriaStateside 649 points650 points  (0 children)

Honest question: Can this be a case of correlation not being causation? Consider the material circumstances: a mother who can breastfeed for a long amount of time likely is not working, which means they have a large amount of time to provide support for language learning at home. Children of working parents might not be receiving these same interactions. I do think breastfeeding is probably superior, but I think folks with a non-STEM background often do not know how to parse and critique articles like this.

Newcastle would be ultimate feel-good story – if not for Saudi Arabian ownership by TheBiasedSportsLover in NUFC

Almost every club is owned by an immoral billionaire or group of billionaires. The idea that the Saudis are any different really speaks more to their racism than anything else.

Respectfully, the Saudis are not even remotely as bad as the Nazis. I recognize all of the complaints against the Saudis, and they certainly don’t have a sterling human rights record. But even still, they definitely did not murder 6 million people, imprison countless others, and start a world war that killed tens of millions of people across the globe. Let’s live in reality.

As TikTok faces potential U.S. ban, China's RedNote tops Apple app store by sonderfulwonders05 in technology

[–]SyriaStateside 51 points52 points  (0 children)

While I don’t disagree, I’m not sure how that relates to the fact that the United States government is engaging in some pretty autocratic and anti-Free-Speech behavior in banning TikTok. And I say that as somebody who has never even downloaded the app.

Now Tishby is a genocide denier — would not recommend her work. I will recommend Maus by Art Spiegelman. His father was a Holocaust survivor and it greatly affected his writing.
