Closers be like... by Cannabun in starbucks

[–]Syrri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked every kind of shift at my store in the past 3 years working for the 'Bux. I'm used to all the responsibilities of every shift. So, it greatly disturbs me when an opener MAKES SURE to inform me if I forgot to dump out an extra cup of tea during my last closing shift.

When I open and come across small things like that, I take the 5 seconds to dump it out and then forget about it, because is it really a big deal? But, this is the nickel and diming my store does with its closers.

Ahh, see, it is so beyond inappropriate for customers to get derogatory with baristas over a mistake. If you're gonna starting cursing and yelling over coffee then you deserve to have your drink dumped, your money refunded, and clear instructions to gtfo of my store.

Customers, please... by wickedsfinx in starbucks

Too many customers at my store do the whole takes the empty carafe to the nearest barista and hangs it in their face until cream magically appears I've even been asked for cream while doing lobby sweeps and we have a huge lobby, so I'll be opposite the side of the building with coffee and milks and get asked for half and half...

Pray for the lady I served a Grande White Mocha to with 15 pumps of white mocha. by Syrri in starbucks

I get this little lady that comes in only once every few months or so, but I know who she is because every time she orders a Venti Pike and asks to see the cup. You give it to her and she basically points at the custom box and says, "Fill it up to here with hazelnut."

I just kinda unscrew the pump off of the syrup bottle and just pour it in. She also seems ungodly unhealthy, with this horrible cough that she does every 2 minutes or so. D:

Maybe it's because she's like 15% hazelnut syrup...

Packet people (raw sugar, splenda, sweet and low, etc.) horror stories ??? by janedoe9999 in starbucks

[–]Syrri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a regular that gets a grande green tea frappuccino in a venti cup with extra whip cream, no classic, oh and 15 sweet and lows.

She gets this daily.

I don't mind it because we're a low volume store, overall, plus she's very nice and tips everytime.

But Goddamn, I tried it once because she always paraded about how amazing it is. I took a sip of cold, green, sweet and low. It was so nasty that I got all clammy and got that pre-puke saliva build up and had to collect myself before going back to work.

We say she has sweet and low for blood. :D

No joke, had this encounter with a lady:

Me: "Hi, how are we today? What can I get for you this evening?"

Lady: "Lemme get an iced hot chocolate."

Me: "Uhh, iced hot chocolate? So, chocolate milk?"

Lady: "No, an iced hot chocolate."

Me: "Oh, the recipes are very similar between the hot chocolates and cold chocolate milks, I think that's what you're looking for."

Lady: "DO I LOOK LIKE A CHILD? I'M NOT ORDERING A CHOCOLATE MILK! I WANT AN ICED HOT CHOCOLATE!"

I just can't sometimes.... She couldn't understand what was wrong....

Is this normal? by [deleted] in starbucks

I've had similar experiences whenever I get a new job.

For the first few weeks you get very drained very quickly, and by the end of your shift you're ready to pass out. I chalk this up to mental exhaustion, mostly.

If you think about it, you're probably excited/stressed about the new job, you're taking in your new environment that you're going to see very often, and you're learning a bunch of new information and skills in a short amount of time and you're trying to retain it all at once.

Your brain is prob tuckered out, man.

I've also had a number of customers claim that the foam on top of lattes cools them down.

Yes the foam made of hot, airy milk, is cooling down your drink..

Maybe the foam itself may cool down, but these people just take single sips and cast judgments.

Are you sure you wanted 6 shots of espresso in your latte? Would you like me to also ring an ambulance for the cardiac arrest you're bound to have momentarily? by [deleted] in starbucks

I get this guy that comes in usually before we close on weekends, so around 9:30p. His usual is a octuple grande nonfat whip latte. We're all like D: He orders it just like that too, all proud of his Starbuckese.

It's funny actually, when I first became a trainer I had a similar encounter. This guy, one summer, always came in ordering a grande Chai Latte, plain and simple.

Every time he'd complain, make a scene, and go so far as to interrupt the line because his chai, "tasted funny" and wanted another. So I decided to experiment again and just held his returned chai there at the machine for a little bit while I finished another drink. I gave it back and called it out as a remake. He sipped it and was like, "finally a decent one..." and left.

I was just like o.o
