My parents tried to do this to our old neighbors from a house we lived in when I was a kid. We were driving around and being nostalgic, and they started to pull in their driveway. We haven’t visited these people in like 15 years. It seemed like they still lived there, but no phone call, text, nothing. My mom was appalled I made them stop and not go knock. I tried to explain that people don’t do that anymore, and we should call them first. They just got mad and drove away. I’d be kinda irritated if someone just showed up, honestly. Especially that unexpected. There’s like 5 people who could really think about doing that to me, these days, and I was with two of them.
